Woman finds dog tied to fire hydrant with note from desperate owner
We can never really judge a situation on the surface.
Yes, we can all agree that people who willingly abandon their pets shouldnât have the right to own any. We can be quick to judge and sometimes, our call for justice is warranted.
However, there are times when there is so much more than we see. This is especially true with the story of a dog that was tied to a fire hydrant.
Kylie Rose Engelhardt saw a dog tied to a fire hydrant.
It was, of course, a strange place to tie a dog, especially when in most cases, obstructing a fire hydrant is a crime. In a Facebook post, she shared that she walked up to the dog and waited if anyone would come back and get her.
As minutes became hours, Engelhardt knew that she had to eventually face reality â this dog was abandoned. No one was going to come back for her.
After an hour of waiting, Engelhardt decided to investigate the puppy.
When she saw her, she also noticed a fairly large backpack right beside the dog. She opened the bag and found food, treats, toys, and most especially, a letter.
Anyone would’ve judged the owner for abandoning their dog but with a bag full of the dogâs needs and favorite things, it could be said that this is a different case entirely.
Engelhardt then posted the dogâs pictures on social media in hopes that someone could identify the dog. She got no response, which led her to call for help.
She endorsed the dog to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
Engelhardt also shared the information she got from the backpack, especially the contents of the letter she found. In response, the Wisconsin Humane Society made a post to assure her previous owner that the dog would be well taken care of.
They acknowledged the fact that the previous owner took their time in making sure Baby Girl, the dog, was well-supplied in this sudden transition.
They said they saw the previous owners love when she packed the bag, tied Baby Girl securely so she wouldnât get hit by a car, placed her in a visible part of the neighborhood where sheâll be quickly noticed, and when they saw how healthy Baby Girl looked.
The owner reached out to a local news station to explain her side.
She was desperate to find someone who can take care of Baby Girl because she has been homeless for a while now and that she was about to undergo chemotherapy.
She said that it was the worst and the hardest thing sheâd ever done in her life. Her only wish if for Baby Girl to find another family that would give her a better life.
According to the shelterâs updates, Baby Girl was finally adopted.
They also said that they passed along âsupportive resourcesâ from the community and that she has expressed her immense gratitude in knowing that Baby Girl was about to find a loving home.
âShe has officially found a new home! Thank you, thank you, thank you!â the shelter said in their Facebook post. And while Baby Girl is now safe, we also pray that for the previous ownerâs recovery.
