Woman does a double-take when she sees a bear relaxing on a couch with its legs crossed
Yes, you’ve read that correctly. A big, black bear was spotted sitting on a couch just like a human.
The amusing sight was captured at a Canadian garbage dump, and the bear’s “chilled out” attitude is simply hilarious.
Bears are normally shy, retiring animals
We’ve all heard the saying “don’t poke the bear,” and we know what it means. However, these big creatures, with thick fur and sharp claws, aren’t so fast to attack. They’ll act aggressively as a last resort if they feel threatened or provoked. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be careful, but the fact is: many people live with those four-footed neighbors in complete harmony. Numerous homeowners said that there are workable ways to live where bears live. You just have to be smart and play it safe. Canada is a perfect example of a place where bears live. You can find them anywhere: from the forests of Québec to southern Manitoba and Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. Moreover, if you’re lucky enough, in British Columbia you can spot one at the side of the road.
Mandy Stantic, a nurse from Manitoba, was in for a great surprise when she encountered a black bear who was willing to pose for some photos
Mrs. Stantic snapped the photos in the spring of 2016 and decided to share them with CBC News.
She was visiting the local dumping ground in Northern Manitoba and wasn’t surprised to see a bear there. They are known to hang around.
What surprised Mandy was the behavior of one bear in particular. No, he didn’t attack her, he didn’t even try to. Instead, the bear was relaxed. He was chilling on a dumped sofa, with his legs crossed, and a little photoshoot didn’t bother him at all. Mandy was able to take a few really good shots as the bear was just sat there. “You don’t see that very often”, said Stantic. “He’s just posing just like a person.” The photos were so good that the big, black teddy quickly became an internet sensation. Many commenters noted that all that he needed was a dumped TV in front of him. Then his afternoon of ‘Netflix & Chill’ would officially be complete.
Fond memories of the area
Despite having moved from there a long time ago, Stantic remembered her childhood as she gave an interview for CBC. She recalled the trips she and her friends made every time they went out to look for a friendly bear. And this bear looks like he wouldn’t mind some friendly company on the sofa. The way he sits upright, in a human-like position is very entertaining. We couldn’t stop laughing. The winter has gone, all bears have woken up from their winter nap, but this chubby fellow doesn’t seem ready to leave the lazy lifestyle just yet.
There were other bears around, too
Where you find one, you’re likely to find them more. Mandy said that she was with her daughter. From the safety of their car, they could see a couple of bears wandering around in search of food.
But the inert superstar was comfy on the sofa and wasn’t planning on moving anywhere.
We’re happy to see bears living their life, but be careful.
It’s all fun and games when you see them stroll around the dump. You don’t live there, it’s not around your house. But when they come close to your home, it’s not so pleasant. They might decide to explore inside, and that could culminate fatally. Therefore, invest in tight enough lids, bear-proof latches, and stable, corrosion-resistant containers.
