Shea Prior took pity on a thin stray cat in her neighborhood and started feeding her. What she didn’t know what that she was feeding a whole family.

Many people love cats. There’s no denying that they’re cute animals. But they also have a reputation as being unloving. This story shows just how appreciative of help some cats can be.

It all began when Shea Prior noticed a thin-looking stray cat in her yard. The poor creature looked ravenous. So Shea filled a bowl with some food and left it in the yard.

Once Prior had walked back indoors, the cat rapidly ate the food.

Then the cat looked through the window at Prior. In that moment, the woman and the animal connected.

At the grocery store the next day, Prior decided to stock up on cat food. She hoped that the cat would be back for more before too long.

Soon, the cat returned. Prior walked outside when the cat was eating. The animal didn’t run away but got scared when Prior got too close.

The next day, the cat was happily eating once more. When she had finished, she walked up to Prior and brushed against her leg. So Prior picked the animal up. The cat started croaking back. It seemed like she couldn’t meow.

Prior noticed that the cat’s teets were enlarged. She must have a litter of kittens nearby. So Prior asked the cat to show her the kittens.

The next evening, Prior was watering her plants when the cat walked into Prior’s yard with a kitten in her mouth. Then the cat brought over four more kittens.

Prior was amazed to see that the cat had grown to trust her so soon. The woman opened the door to her home, and the cat went inside with one of her babies in her mouth. Prior carried in the others.

From that moment onward, Prior knew that she would be looking after the six animals for a while.

Prior quickly decided to adopt the mother cat for good. She was an incredibly affectionate cat, after all! When the kittens grew up, Prior would find them forever homes.

So the woman arranged to get the cats spayed when she could. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic hit, and Prior lost her job.

She had to turn to Gofundme to raise the cash for the vet bills. She needed $1,000 and explained on the site that any extra money raised would be given to a no-kill animal shelter.

Over the next few days, Prior named the mother Cricket (because of the noise she made instead of meowing.) She made the kittens and the mother a little shelter in her bathroom and enjoyed watching them grow.

When she next checked on her Gofundme, Prior was shocked. She had been able to raise much more than $1,000. In just a couple of weeks, the total had almost reached $4,000.

Pretty soon, the kittens will all be in forever homes. They’ll have no trouble finding families when they’re as cute as they are!

Prior is overjoyed to have taken in Cricket and her babies. The mother will have a very happy life in this home!
