Dogs found poisoned and abandoned in tar – woman tries to rescue them before it’s too late

The reasons behind why someone would harm an innocent animal are beyond most people’s comprehension. Dogs in particular are innocent and loving, and they are quick to give a friendly lick or nudge in exchange for a few pets or belly rubs.

When a woman found two dogs while out on a walk, she was shocked at the predicament they were in.

The two dogs, named Cherry and Igor, were lying in a bitumen pit, the tarry substance almost consuming their furry bodies. Helpless, the two dogs had been lying there for almost a day. The only thing visible on one of the dogs was their snout. It was a miracle that they had been found. Their cries for help had gotten the woman’s attention.

At first, the woman tried to free them, but they were so stuck in the tar that she couldn’t free them by herself. Her next step was to find someone to help her. After going to nearby homes and making some phone calls, she was able to get the help she needed to free them. Some of the locals arrived, and soon the dogs were free.

A local animal rescue, Stray Paws Rescue, also responded and soon arrived to help the two dogs out. Rescue workers rushed the two dogs to a clinic where they could receive treatment.

First, Cherry and Igor were sedated so that the tar could be removed from their skin and fur.

Four hours later and Cherry and Igor were as clean as the clinic staff could make them. It was only after they had been cleaned off that the medical staff noticed the abuse that they had suffered in the past. Covered in old wounds, the dogs had suffered from abuse before they were thrown into the tar.

Worst of all, it was revealed from Cherry and Igor’s blood work that the two had been poisoned by whoever had thrown them into the tar. Their abuser had wanted to make sure that they died. Fortunately, they were free of the person who had abused them before.

In addition to getting treatment at the clinic, the rescue was determined to find them a forever home.
