We will be forever indebted to our parents or to whoever raised us. The people who did everything to the best of their capacity just to give us a decent life. We will never be able to thank them enough for everything that they have done.

Though oftentimes they wouldn’t require us to repay them, it’s just really our nature to give back what’s given to us in kind.

Surprisingly, this basic lesson in life also applies to dogs.

Somewhere in the slums of Brazil, a stray dog was ready to show us how big his heart is.

Living life in the slums is never easy. These places hide unforeseen dangers and the people living in them are very poor. Despite all this, when a woman spotted a street dog who needed her help, she was willing to take the risk and bring him back home with her.

Living in such an impoverished community, the lady knows that she can’t help all the stray animals in need.

Truth be told, at some point in our lives, even if we have the ability to help, sometimes we opt not to because we are scared of not being able to help everyone in need. It is like saying, “If I can’t help them all, I won’t help the one.”

However, even in a life that’s so poor, this woman chose to do what she believed was right. Even if she knew that she couldn’t help all of the stray animals living around their area, she wanted to at least help one, and that’s what she unhesitantly did.

It wasn’t clear yet if the kind lady had taken care of a dog before, but this one particular dog took her by surprise.

While taking a stray dog home is a tough decision to make, teaching it how to adapt to a new environment and to like you is another thing entirely.

This woman knew, that the dog would require some time to adjust. At first, the dog was still feeling a little uneasy staying inside a home because it’s used to just wandering around the streets.

It didn’t take long, the wall between the woman and the dog finally collapsed.

It turned out that he is a sweet and kind dog, he was able to adjust to his new life together with his new human companion.

The woman still allowed her new dog to roam around like he was used to before.

One evening, the woman noticed that her dog was missing.

He was nowhere to be found inside their home. She tried not to make it a big deal and went back to sleep. The next evening she was shocked because her dog was gone again, and he came back later that evening looking so exhausted.

That’s when she started to become curious about what was going on, so the next night, she decided to tail the dog to see where it was headed at night.

And she was shocked by what she discovered!

She quietly followed her dog and, after a couple of minutes of walking down the street, it stopped and sat down like it was waiting for someone.

Then after a few moments, an unknown lady holding a plastic bag in her hand came out of nowhere and sat beside her dog.

She laid the plastic bag on the ground and opened it, and it turned out that there was food inside it.

The sweet dog immediately gobbled on it but didn’t eat it all.

The lady wrapped the plastic bag with the remaining food inside, then the dog grabbed it with its mouth, wagged his tail as he bid goodbye to the kind woman.

Puzzled with what she saw, the owner of the dog approached the unknown woman and asked her what was happening.

The unknown woman told the owner of the dog that she knew the dog for years, but she couldn’t take him home because of some personal reasons.

She decided to just bring the dog food regularly, for several years, at the same time, and in the same place.

The dog’s owner thought that was the only surprise, but she was terribly wrong.

The next evening she followed her dog again to see where it was headed to with the remainder of his food.

And again, she was stunned by what she saw!

They ended up somewhere within the area, the dog then dropped the bag and looked like he was waiting for someone to come.

Surprisingly, animals came in swarming his leftovers.

There was an old cat, two small dogs, and a hen with chicks.

All this time, the dog was feeding other stray animals!

We may not know the reason he’s doing it, but one thing is for sure- this dog is their lifesaver.

These animals could’ve been starving to death all those times without him supplying them with meals every night.

This dog is a true example of love and compassion! He can be a role model even to us humans, wouldn’t you agree?
