Woman gives a peek inside her ‘idyllic’ tiny home surrounded by tropical forest

Countless wise men and women have imparted wisdom on pushing past hurdles with different versions of “This, too, shall pass.”

If this has been repeated over time, then surely it’s safe to have faith in such a short but meaningful saying.

More than a mere expression, far from toxic positivity, it speaks of the reality that even the worst of times end; the rain will stop, the storm will cease, and the sun will shine again.

Vicki had to pull through quite a storm of her own.

She lost her home in the Christchurch earthquake in New Zealand in 2011.

Fortunate to be alive, with the opportunity to rebuild, she decided to rise from the devastation of it all and start over, this time in Australia.

She packed up what was left of her belongings and began her new journey.

She had to stay at a friend’s house temporarily while she pursued a job.

Living through such a traumatic experience and being able to welcome tomorrow still, Vicki was left with a ton of realizations, one of them being the simplicity that she discovered she could live on.

Then, she got the idea of a tiny house.

Now popularly referred to as “tiny living,” building a tiny house and customizing it to fit your preferences is a move more and more people are making.

Living in a tiny house opens up the door to a lifestyle that isn’t just budget-friendly – it’s more low-maintenance, too.

Tiny living means easier cleanup, sustainable construction choices, and affordable living.

You’ve got a roof over your head, fewer rooms and other areas to clean and maintain (which comes with a decreased need for water and electricity), and more opportunities for creativity and sustainable living.

Bonus: you can easily spruce up the space you have, too!

Vicki decided on a full-custom container home situated on a lot that was open for people with mobile homes.

With it comes a beautiful view and a field where she and others learned to plant food.

Inside her charming home are calming hues of green, and a seamless combination of copper and timber.

The delightful interiors include wallpaper designed by an artist from the Netherlands, a living area with a stunning, jade-colored couch, and dual-purpose furniture: a dining table that also functions as a work area, and a bench that doubles as a shoe rack.

Her kitchen has to be the best part of her tiny home.

It comes with a glass window overlooking the garden, decor, glassware, and plants arranged delightfully on wooden shelves, and a sliding pantry to store all her cooking essentials in.

Picture, too, added lighting from the window, a spacious counter, and appliances stored smartly.

Of course, her bathroom is just as nice.

She dressed it up with a unique design for the shower, vanity and toilet arranged strategically, and a closet that allows her easy access to her clothes after every bath.

Vicki may have more room in her bedroom because of the absence of a wardrobe, but she decided against filling it with too many decorations and furniture.

Positioned up the loft, Vicki’s clutter-free bedroom has a skylight that lets her sleep beneath the stars at night.

Each room, each piece, is a reflection of her personality and a newfound perspective.

She has everything she could possibly need in her tiny loft house.

What a remarkable way to begin again and live differently!
