Woman shows what it’s like living with dog in walk-in closet sized New York City apartment

Living in the Big Apple is a dream for many young people. However, not many can afford the extremely high prices of renting an apartment in NYC.

And they’re only going up.

So, how to cope and still turn our dreams into a reality? Think tiny.

As of last September, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in New York was $3,927, “up about 27% from the same time [the previous] year”, according to Entrepreneur.

Still, there are those who are determined to make it in the big city and will go above and beyond to pursue their dream.

This is why many people live in tiny apartments that can barely fit them or their belongings- let alone a pet.

This woman’s sharing a first-hand look.

Caleb Simpson, a TikToker, meets people on the streets of New York, asks them how much they pay for rent, and if they can take him on a tour of their apartment.

Alaina Randazzo, a young woman coming from Missouri, must be living in one of the tiniest apartments in New York.

Her room, which is more or less the same size as a walk-in closet, barely fits her and her dog.

But she’s totally fine with that.

After all, she only pays $650.

That’s per month, which helps her save hundreds of dollars and use it for traveling.

Alaina’s tiny apartment is located in Midtown Manhattan.

It’s no larger than 80×150 and it consists of a small living space and a loft, where her bed- or mattress to be precise- is.

The room has no windows, but she doesn’t mind because of the skylight above her.

Walking into the apartment, you bump into the kitchen, which is basically a stovetop and a few shelves.

There’s also a sink, a college-style fridge, and a tiny cupboard, where Alaina keeps her makeup and a few snacks.

On the wall, there’s a TV and opposite the TV there’s a small couch that can turn into a small bed if needed.

She does, in fact, have a closet.

There’s also a small closet hiding underneath the staircase, where Alaina keeps her jackets.

As for her clothes?

Many of them are just hanging on the wall.

When Caleb asks if he can try her bed, the woman says she’s okay with that, so they climb up the stairs and get to the loft where her comfortable mattress is.

Still, Caleb can’t chill too much because there’s always the risk of banging his head on the ceiling. It’s just too close to their heads.

As for the shared bathroom, Alaina is fine with that because she knows all her neighbors personally and she doesn’t mind walking to and from the bathroom in her robe.

Last stop, is the rooftop.

That’s where Alaina goes when she gets a little claustrophobic, or when she wants to take some fresh air and do some yoga.

Pretty cool.

Simpson’s video has gone viral with almost 10 million views. Some love the apartment and others simply can’t figure how or why someone would want to live there.

“Is it even legal to classify something this small as an apartment?!” someone wrote, while someone else commented: “She utilized her space extremely well.”
