Cats have a pretty bad reputation, at least as far as common household pets go. Many people say that they’re unloving, uncaring creatures. But this cat might just prove all the naysayers wrong.
Boko the cat started out his life as a stray wandering the streets of Texas. Luckily, a rescue organization found him and eventually brought him to the home of Gabby Tropea.
Gabby has always loved Boko. And Boko has been an affectionate cat, sitting in Gabby’s lap as often as possible.
But recently, Gabby learned that Boko’s affection goes much further than just lap sitting. He even helps Gabby when she’s locked out.
Nowâs as good of a time as any to share this video of me singing Kelly Clarksonâs âA Moment Like Thisâ to Boko when I first rescued him pic.twitter.com/CgkmpyQfwu

It all began when Gabby walked her younger sister, Isabelle, to school one morning. Gabby forgot to bring her keys with her. When the door shut, Gabby had no way of getting back in.
Gabby only realized that she was locked out when she came back home. She tried yanking the door open again and again.
Boko heard this commotion and came to the door. He started scratching at it. Then he began crying out to Gabby.
Gabby hoped that she could get in through the back patio door, so she went around and tried that. Usually, Gabby locks the back patio door by placing a stick at the point where it slides. The stick was still in place.
Gabby tried opening the door anyway. But then Boko showed up at the back door to lend a helping paw. Literally.
First, Boko rubbed his face against the stick. Gabby pleaded with the cat to move the stick away. Boko appeared to understand, and he started scratching at it.
Gabby told Boko to lift the stick up. Amazingly, Boko appeared to understand and attempted to lift it.
After a few tries, Boko was successful, and Gabby could get inside once more.
Gabby decided to reward her clever cat with some treats. Boko was very appreciative. But most of all, he was happy to have Gabby back indoors. For the entire rest of the day, the cat clung to Gabby like his life depended on it.
Just imagine if you had a cat like Boko in your home? You’d surely feel much more secure. Sure, dogs are amazing, but many of them would fail where Boko succeeded.
Luckily, Gabby was filming the moment when Boko let her into her home. She uploaded the footage to Twitter, where it soon went viral. To date, the video has gained over 7.2 million views. It also has more than 556,000 likes, 147,000 retweets and 1,600 comments. People have been saying things like this:
Of course, not every cat is able to exhibit Boko’s love and intelligence. Gabby sure is lucky to have such an amazing cat! She never needs to worry about getting locked out again!
It’s lucky that Gabby was filming this event, or no one would have believed it. Boko, you truly are a hero.

My sister accidentally locked me out of the house so I went to check if the back door was unlocked and this happened pic.twitter.com/2zkjeyFJk5
