Woman with no kids is confused when DNA test says she has a daughter

DNA tests are the latest rage.

These tests can tell you where your family came from and about blood relatives you might already know about as well as some that might surprise you. This is what happened to Molly Sinert of Florida, who found out she had a daughter after taking a DNA test.

The only problem was that Sinert had never given birth before.

A murky past

Sinert, who had been adopted, started life in South Korea.

From there she had been adopted by a couple in Florida, where she grew up, unaware that she had a blood relative, who had also been adopted, living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A twin sister named Emily Bushnell.

A realization

The realization that she had a twin occurred when Sinert’s sister’s daughter, Isabel, insisted on her mom having a DNA test done. B

ushnell was against taking a test herself, but she let Isabel take one instead.

“I wanted to do the DNA test because she was adopted. I wanted to find out if I had more family on her side.” Isabel told ABC News.

Meanwhile, Sinert had taken a DNA test of her own.

And, as it so happened, both Sinert and Isabel received their test results back at the same time.

Sinert was shocked to discover that somehow, she had a daughter. This even though she had never had a child before.

“I clicked on the close relative and I didn’t understand it. [It said] ‘you share 49.96% DNA with this person. We predict that she’s your daughter’. This is obviously not right, because I’ve never gone into labor, I don’t have children,” Sinert said.

It was then that Sinert realized that something else was afoot, she had an identical twin.

She confirmed this by reaching out to Isabel who confirmed that her mother, Bushnell was also born in South Korea and had an identical birth date, March 29, as Sinert.

Filling a hole in her heart

“Although I have family who love me and adore me and have been absolutely wonderful, there was always a feeling of disconnection,” Sinert said. “Finding out that I had an identical twin sister just made everything so clear. It all makes sense.”

Making contact

The twins made contact soon after learning of each other.

It was then that they learned of similarities in each other’s lives, even though they lived thousands of miles apart.

One such example was the dresses they wore to their respective proms, beaded dresses and necklaces of similar styles, and eerily similar hairdos.

Wanting to meet, the pair held off on video chatting.

They wanted to see each other for the first time in person, and so a meeting was arranged for their 36th birthday.

The meeting was something they will never forget. As for why they were both put up for adoption, the twins have no clue.

A future trip together is planned
