Woman had too much to drink at dinner – leaves car parked overnight only to find a note on it

The food at a lot of restaurants can be way too good sometimes. How can you stop coming back for seconds when the gravy and wings are divine to the taste? When the salad and toppings absolutely tastes like love? Don’t get us started on the pasta and drinks.

Moreover, you don’t need us to tell you about the alcoholic drinks. Too many people just don’t know when to stop, and end up passing out or throwing up in the back. It’s pretty annoying or pretty funny depending on who you ask.

When faced with situations like this, your options range from calling a taxi cab or an Uber, or asking a friend to drive you home. Walking home drunk isn’t exactly safe or practical, and driving drunk even more so.

Paula Grzelak-Schultz had this very situation on her hands when she ate at an Original Joe’s chain. Although there was one other problem – she arrived by her own car in the first place.

If she booked an Uber or called a cab, she’d have to leave her car parked overnight.

She had no other choice, so her car remained in the restaurant parking throughout the night. Let’s hope their security was good enough. Wouldn’t want someone smashing her windows or stealing her car. There was also the issue of potentially being towed.

Still, better safe than sorry. You could handle a towed or stolen car, but driving drunk could cost you way more than money.

Come morning and soberness, Paula of course returned to the restaurant to retrieve her car. She was probably expecting to have to pay a fine along the way too. However, she was met with something a lot better.

The management dropped a little note on her car. It wasn’t to tell her off or warn her about parking there overnight. Instead, they thanked her for being responsible and not driving home drunk.

Seems like a couple employees recognized her when she came and left the night before.

They wrote :

“Dear Original Joe’s Sherwood Park Guest,

Just wanted to thank you for leaving your car parked overnight. I’m not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not, but we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving. Enclosed is a voucher good for 1lb of our delicious chicken wings. Please accept this as a thank you for being responsible. Life is valuable, have a great weekend.”

What a wonderful thing to come back to. Finding your care safe without any negative feelings from the management was splendid already, but the free 1lb of chicken wings is just the savory cherry on top.

Paula shared a photo of the note on her Facebook where it garnered tens of thousands of reacts and shares.

Nonetheless, we don’t think you should try deliberately leaving your car in a restaurant overnight hoping for the same result. Don’t think it works that way.

But this sweet gesture from the restaurant is splendid to see. Let’s hope we can beat the pandemic soon enough so we can all go back to dining with friends at places like this.

In the meantime, there are other ways for you to practice compassion and consideration, and it doesn’t involve parking a car or giving someone chicken wings.

All you need to do is wear a mask and stay indoors. These restaurants aren’t going to reopen if we don’t do our part. Paula’s Facebook post is in the link down below if you want to see for yourself.
