Meeting a celebrity or simply spotting them in real life is a very exciting thought for a lot of people, especially if it’s a celebrity you adore. Famous people have everyday lives just like us, they also have to go shopping at grocery stores and they’ll often be inclined to purchase a cup of coffee to get through the day.

But sometimes when you’re out grabbing a coffee, you suddenly realize you forgot your wallet at home! We’ve definitely all been there, and it’s something that a man standing in line at a Wawa recently went through.

The man didn’t have any money to purchase his cup of coffee, but then an elderly lady stepped in to take care of the bill.

Ruth Reed and her husband are two very big believers of the ‘Pay it Forward’ principle and always try to do random acts of kindness whenever they can. Helping out strangers just makes them happy, and anyone who’s experienced or witnessed such an act of kindness is encouraged to pay it forward and keep the chain going.

The elderly woman regularly heads to Dunkin’ Donuts, or in this case, Wawa, and she’ll often just pick up the tabs for random people at the shop. Ruth is now retired but previously worked as an elementary school teacher. Everybody loves her because of her extreme kindness, which she displayed both inside and outside of school.

When a man was waiting with not enough money to pay for his coffee, Ruth immediately offered to pay for it. She insisted, and the man was absolutely thankful for the kind gesture.

It turns out that the customer in question was actually none other than the talented and popular musician, Keith Urban.

Ruth had already noticed that the man looked like the rockstar, especially when he turned around. He then introduced himself, but Ruth still thought it was some kind of joke – after all, what would a country music star like Urban be doing in her regular Wawa, carrying no money at all?

However, when she started to notice that Urban brought an entourage of bodyguards, she was convinced that is was actually him in the flesh. Ruth was flabbergasted that she just helped out this major music star and celebrity!

The two then had a lovely chat for a couple of minutes.

Even though their moment at the counter didn’t last long, it was certainly memorable for the kind woman. She also found the courage to ask for a picture at the end of their talk, and the singer was more than happy to oblige.

Before she knew it, Ruth became somewhat of a celebrity herself and gathered a ton of attention on news outlets and national tv shows. She was even invited to the Pickler & Ben show to talk about her encounter with Keith Urban.

Everywhere she went and to everyone news outlet she talked to, she spread the message of ‘paying it forward’ with acts of kindness and encouraged everyone to do so. Sometimes lending a hand to a stranger in need can go a very long way!
