Woman rescues half-bald and abused puppy. 3 months later she’s completely unrecognizable

For dogs, being neglected and abused is the most painful and hurting thing that could ever happen to them. The trauma can even become worse if it happens to a young and innocent puppy.

We can’t fathom why these cases keep on ballooning over the years.

On the other hand, inspiring stories about abused dogs are also all over the world to brighten up this dark fact about them.

This story of an abused puppy will make you realize that “nothing is impossible.”

Meet Honey!

Honey was an abused puppy who was mistreated by her negligent owners. She was brought by her former owners to a vet’s office in West Sussex, England. And when veterinary assistant Jessie DeFreitas first saw her, she was devastated and couldn’t believe her eyes.

There was no need for a check-up or any further diagnosis, she was obviously in a terrible condition.

“Everyone at the vet knows I’m a huge animal lover. When I was told we had a new dog, I had to see her. She may have had mange, but she had beautiful eyes.”

The poor baby was almost naked. She lost almost all of her fur because of mange.

The American Kennel Club describes mange as a horrible and painful skin disease caused by parasitic mites. It is also common in puppies and dogs that are neglected, abused, or who are strays. It can be treated by medicated shampoos, topical applications, and oral medications.

AKC also wrote, “These dogs appear to be beyond hope — hairless, with skin covered in sores or with thickened, hard, crusty patches.”

They say that eyes can speak a thousand words.

Honey had deep, emotional eyes and they were full of hurt.

Jessie was completely mesmerized by how the pup looked at her. Right there and then, she knew she had to do something.

“The vet said if the dog wasn’t signed over to the office, she wouldn’t have survived. ‘She needed constant care. I asked to foster the dog. My mum asked if I was sure because we already have four cats and another rescue dog at home. But everyone knows I love animals. At the vets, I’m constantly asking about people’s pets.”

The physical and emotional abuse brought Honey nothing but trauma. It’s just sad because she had to experience mistreatment at such a young age.

Jessie was on a mission and she vowed not to give up on the puppy.

She took Honey home and showed her nothing but love and affection. Sadly, Honey was uncertain about how to respond to it.

“When we first brought her home, she was a playful biter. Her original name, Honey, didn’t fit her at all. To me, Honey is sweet and she is not. My mum named her Terra with an ‘a’ because it fit her better – she can be a little terror.”

Pretty soon, Honey made an unexpected transformation.

Terra slowly and eventually recovered from the mange infestation. Her fur grew back, it was beautiful, thick, and luxurious. She became more responsive to the love shown by Jessie.

She completely turned into a different puppy.

Jessie couldn’t believe her eyes when she first saw Honey – and still can’t believe her transformation as Terra.

“She’s recovered really well. You can see it in her eyes – she’s become happier and happier.”

The mange was all gone and her eyes became brighter.

There were no more signs of abuse.

She became happier, livelier, and more playful. She now has a brand new, positive attitude, a brand new outlook on life, and the sweetest disposition.

“She’s amazing. She’s just the kindest and sweetest thing.”

In fact, Terra qualifies as a model puppy to many.

She looks stunningly amazing now. She transformed beautifully in just three months and that can already be considered a miracle! All thanks to Jessie who didn’t give up on her.

They are both lucky to have found each other.
