Woman is reunited with her dog two years after she was told it passed away

When you get a new pet, whether it’s a dog or a cat, it’s really crucial to have it microchipped. It might cost an extra $40-$50, but it can prove life-saving for your new furry friend.

Like in this story, in which thanks to a dog’s microchip, the pet was reunited with her owner after almost two years of separation.

“Microchips work to get your babies back home! Sometimes even years later,” Cowley County Humane Society wrote in a Facebook post a few weeks ago.

The post was telling the story of a woman who thought her dog had died, but then she received a call that her dog was found and was reunited with her shortly after.

The video that was uploaded along with the text showed the young woman meeting her furry friend a long time after they were separated, and watching it brings tears to the eyes of the viewers.

So, basically, the story started several years ago, when Maile Trist was a high school student living in California.

That’s when she decided to get a dog to keep her company and she ended up getting a little chihuahua, whom she named Jazzy.

The years passed, and Trist and Jazzy became best friends. They spent hours together, cuddling and enjoying each other’s company.

Everything was going just fine until Trist decided to move from California to Salina, Kansas. Obviously, moving out of a house and into a new one involves a lot of work and it can be nerve-wracking for someone.

Now imagine being a pet and having to go through all this process. Trist decided that it would be better if she didn’t make Jazzy go through it, and she thought that the best solution would be to leave her temporarily with a friend, and then take her back when everything was ready.

But, sadly, she trusted the wrong people.

The people who looked friendly and trustworthy soon disappeared and she couldn’t get in touch with them.

“They blocked me. I couldn’t contact them and finally, when I did find contact, they told me that she died,” Trist told KWCH.

As Trist was trying hard to get an answer about what had happened to her dog, they just texted her that Jazzy had died and then didn’t get in touch again.

For months Trist was devastated. She was deeply sad that her dog had suddenly died without her even having the chance to say goodbye, and at the same time, she felt guilty that she had trusted Jazzy with the wrong people.

While still mourning Jazzy, she recently got a new dog. And, soon after that, her phone rang and when she answered it someone told her that Jazzy had been found.

Trist couldn’t believe it since she believed that her dog had died two years earlier, but she drove all the way to Cowley County to meet the rescued dog.

Indeed, it was her beloved friend.

“I was crying and I was shaking because I was so overjoyed that, for one, she’s alive and two, I could bring her finally home,” Trist said.
