Woman does charity ride around the world for Women’s Day with a German Shepherd by her side

International Women’s day is this month, and we’re finding all kinds of ways to respect and uplift women all over the world. Our four-legged canine friends are part of the celebration too.

They might be called Man’s best friend, but dogs have been heartfelt, irreplaceable companions to many women as well.

Take a look at Jessica Stone, one of the countless women across the world making the most out of International Women’s Day.

Jessica is on a journey, but one she won’t be alone for. She’s got a traveling companion who also happens to be her best friend.

Her companion is Moxie the German Shepherd, who, at first glance, seems a bit too big to share a motorcycle with.

Stone is the founder of RUFFLY, a company that makes outdoor equipment for dogs. Dogs and the outdoors are where Stone’s heart lies, and that’s why she’s embarking on this grand journey.

Since her goal is to support and build up strong, hardworking women around the world, she’s partnered with the movement Girl Up.

Jessica’s hoping to raise $100,000 for the charity organization and will also be donating 10% of all Ruffly dog equpment sales to the cause.

Girl Up has a pretty solid track record. They were founded by the UN Foundation in 2010 with the aim to support UN agencies that focus on helping teen girls. Girl Up puts out many leadership development programs across the world with a focus on social issues such as gender-based violence and gender equality in education, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), and sports.

RUFFLY makes collars, bandanas, harnesses, and anything else a dog might need when they go adventuring. All are made by Indigenous women in Guatemala who are paid livable wages. Only love, care, and respect go into the doggy equipment.

For this long trip, Jessica had RUFFLY make a dog carrier for a motorcycle. One that’d fit Moxie perfectly.

“Riding with her is amazing, and it’s given me the courage to set bigger goals.” – says Jessica

One of the strong girls she’s supporting is the same one joining her for the ride. Moxie will be right behind Jessica as she makes the cross-continental journey. She’ll see all the sights that Jessica will see, while they raise $100,000 for Girl Up.

Because who better to support strong women than a pair of strong ladies too?

RUFFLY will also do its share of donating. The outdoor doggy gear brand will donate 10% of all sales to Girl Up.

And Moxie will provide emotional support, which is just as important. The trip, however long, should be fun for her. German Shepherds love the outdoors, and not many dogs will get to travel the world like her.

An 18-month journey on two wheels is as hard as it sounds. But no one said it was going to be easy.

It’ll be long, messy, and could even make one homesick. But it’s something not everyone gets to do in their lives.

Besides, with Moxie by her side, Jessica will always have a little bit of home sitting right behind her. Raising money is the goal, sure. But the memories they’ll make are probably just as valuable.

Jessica will be the first woman to ride across 5 continents on a motorcycle with a German shepherd by her side.
