Woman serenades her dog with holiday song and the dog's reaction is nothing short of magical
It’s possible your dog has heard you sing before (whether they liked it or not) but very few people sit down to actually serenade their pets.
Then again, if we had a voice like Daniela Andrade, we’d be singing to just about anything.
The Canadian singer has released 6 albums – including a holiday album called The Christmas EP – but it’s one song in particular that has turned her dog, Dina, into a superfan.
The song is “Christmas Time Is Here” by the Vince Guaraldi Trio and it was made famous by the classic holiday film A Charlie Brown Christmas. But in 2014 it was revived by Andrade (and Dina) in a sweet video that has since been viewed over 6.7 million times.
It’s a simple video but people are still coming back to it (throughout the year!) for not only Andrade’s beautiful vocals but to watch sweet Dina enjoy her serenade.
Now, first, let us get this out of the way – the dog does not sing. When we first watched it, we totally expected a duet. But once you hear Andrade’s voice you really don’t want it interrupted with a dog howling. Dina is simply adorable, but even if she howled on key we think the song might lose a bit of its magic.
But is the real magic in the song or in watching a dog owner and her pet look at each other so sweetly? Commenters are divided on the matter.
“This is my go-to Christmas song, I can’t get enough of it.”
Ok, that’s saying something since the original tune is kind of “meh” and Andrade really does make it into something we’d want to put on our Christmas Eve playlist while we’re wrapping presents and drinking hot cocoa.
“Aweee the doggie seriously listening to its human makes me soo happy.”
That’s a point for the dog. And most people are simply touched by Dina’s mellow reaction, especially since most dogs might not react so serenely to being sung to.
“I swear when I do this to my dogs it will be a whole mess there’s dog 1 tryna eat the camera, dog 2 wanna play the guitar too, dog 3 gonna be like AwOoOoOOOOOOOO WOWOWOWO.”
To be fair, that would also make a fun video.
“I want a boyfriend who looks at me the way puppy looks at her.”
Noted. There’s definitely the element of unconditional love that makes the video worth watching in addition to the song. The eye contact alone is enough to make us feel like we’ve been missing out on something.
But the comment that matches our sentiments exactly? This one:
“This is like one of the softest videos that has ever existed [o]n the internet.”
Seriously. Now we want it to be Christmas all year-round, learn to play guitar, get a puppy, learn to sing, and just live in this video. Is that too much to ask, Santa?
Well, yes, it is. But frankly, it’s enough just to watch the sweet pair enjoy their holiday caroling. And most commenters simply thanked Andrade (and Dina!) for the opportunity to smile during what can sometimes be a less-than-ideal time of year.
“The relationship you have between you and your buddy is just utterly beautiful. This video brought a huge smile on my face, thank you for that.”
Christmas rarely turns out as perfect as this video, but now that we’re a few days removed from Christmas, we can all just take a deep breath and enjoy the moment.
Be sure to scroll down and see the darling duo and hear the beautiful song. Even if you’re totally over Christmas music, we think it’ll still warm your heart.
