Bored woman teaches her cats how to play tic-tac-toe – and it’s actually a success
In times like this when people have to be at home all day every day, life can get boring if you don’t do something new and creative to spice up the routine.
Now, for those of you who have a cat, you might have heard that you can play various games with them, like hide-and-seek, treasure hunt, tag or even blow bubbles. But how about playing board games with your feline friend?
In fact, playing board games with cats is not that difficult- unless you want to play Monopoly with them or something similar. Generally, as we all know, cats are smart creatures and they tend to understand simple games- especially if they are accompanied by their favorite treats. For example, a tried and trusted game you can play with them is tic-tac-toe. Does it sound unlikely?
Well, for Brittni Young it sounded like the perfect way to pass the time during the quarantine. She was so bored doing nothing at home all day, she figured she could play something new with her cats. So, when she read about a woman who had taught her cat to play tic-tac-toe, she thought “Why not my cats, too?”
And she got to work: she drew the table in her notebook and invited her first opponent to play with her. Archie the cat decided to give the game a try- especially when he saw the treats lying on the paper.
So, Brittni let Archie choose his box first by having the treat, and then she took a turn and so on until she won the game. Although Archie lost, he got all the remaining treats, which in a way made up for it.
Then, it was Jax’s turn. Jax was a little more hesitant than Archie and she didn’t look too sure about whether she considered the game a good idea. But, you know, who can say no to a treat, right? So, she gave in and the game started.
While Brittni and Jax were playing, Archie paid them a visit, obviously attracted by the treats lying on the table. Brittni tried to keep him away from their precious tic-tac-toe board, and they kept playing until, once again Brittni won the game. Of course, just like she did with Archie, she gave Jax the remaining treats to sweeten up the pain.
Well, it seems that the training worked and the cats now are ready to play this board game with Brittni many times in the future. Seems like quarantine has just assumed new meaning for the family.
But Brittni didn’t stop there. She tried to find other opponents too. And what’s better than an 11-month-old baby? Yes, you read that correctly! Brittni taught her baby to play the game, this time using yogurt snacks as incentives. We hear this one worked too! Well, self-isolation won’t be boring for them anymore, that’s for sure.
Brittni just gave us a great idea and we might just try it very very soon! How about you?
