Woman moving in with her boyfriend throws her dog away in a tied garbage bag
When it comes to moving, we all have to make sacrifices. We canât bring EVERYTHING with us.
Anyone who has experienced a move knows that itâs usually the perfect time to get rid of anything that may have begun gathering dust or just isnât right for the new place. This is especially true for cases of moving in with a partner.
Some things that usually get tossed (or hopefully donated) are clothes, furniture, and kitchenware that doesnât suit the right needs. But there are some things that donât deserve to be left behind while moving
The first thing on that list is certainly anything with a life of its own, like a dog.
The right thing is pretty obvious.
Even if the circumstances of the move didnât allow for the animal to go with its owner, which does, unfortunately, happen sometimes, there is always the right thing to do…and the wrong thing.
The right thing simply looks like finding a new home for the pet with either a friend or a shelter!
The wrong thing is what one Pennsylvania woman chose to do with her dog when she began to move in with her boyfriend. The story is unthinkable for most animal lovers.
When Nicole Baker decided that her dog Mia didnât fit into her plans for a new life with her boyfriend, she decided to throw her away.
She literally put her beautiful dog into a trash bag and tied it shut. She then heartlessly tossed the bag in a trash can and left Mia for the trash truck. Mia had been left to die a slow and horrible death.
Although Bakerâs friends had regularly offered to take Mia in when she would be gone, the inhumane woman convinced them that there was no need. Obviously this was untrue and Mia was left to starve or suffocate unless she got extremely lucky.
And lucky is exactly what poor Mia got.
Nathan Binne, a man working for the local sanitation services, found the struggling dog just in time.
âIt was shocking,â he told the local news, âto see an animal like that, and I just wanna make sure everythingâs okay.â
After the heartwarmingly lucky rescue, The Humane Society of Westmoreland County happily took in the abandoned dog. They also made sure to inform the local authorities so that the proper action would be taken to identify the former owner.
Mia had her needs met by the loving shelter staff, and she steadily regained weight, as well as had her faith in humanity slightly restored.
She also received a new name! She became known as Fawna as she entered a new, more hopeful life.
Upon recovering, she was adopted by a vet tech named Megan, and they began a new life together, leaving the trauma of the past behind.
Ms. Baker was held accountable
She was located and taken to court, where she plead guilty for her useful actions.
As punishment, she had to pay a $620 fine, enroll in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, undergo a mental health evaluation, and complete community service. She will also never be allowed to adopt a dog in Pennsylvania ever again.
Fawnaâs story is heartbreaking, lucky, and finally heartwarming. The fact that people cared for her and helped her regain a happy life makes this a happy story in the end.
We all surely hope she continues to live a happy life!
