Cops see woman throw dog off motel balcony – immediately arrest her for animal cruelty

Police arrived at a Motel 6 in Daytona, Florida on December 14th after receiving reports about a person acting erratically. A woman staying at the motel was threatening to jump off her second-floor balcony.

When officers arrived on the scene, however, the woman threw her dog off the balcony instead.

The motel staff had called police after the woman attacked a maid and was then threatening to jump as she stood over the railings. The woman was clearly disturbed, but it is not yet known what she might be dealing with.

By the time the police arrived, the woman had barricaded herself inside her hotel room. The woman did, however, eventually open the door after officers repeatedly knocked on it.

When she came out of her room, the woman had a German Shepherd with her on a leash. What came next surprised everybody.

The woman picked up the German Shepherd and tossed the dog over the railing.

The officers immediately arrested her for animal cruelty.

Thankfully, the dog avoided any serious injuries from the fall. The German Shepherd has been nicknamed “Miracle” for its miraculous good fortune to have not been hurt. While it was only a 2-story fall, had Miracle landed badly, the poor innocent German Shepherd could have been badly hurt.

Miracle landed feet first on the ground and scurried off after.

Bystanders found Miracle and turned the dog over to local animal services. Miracle was then examined at a nearby Animal Hospital where it was discovered she did not sustain any serious injuries as a result of the fall.

Animal services did discover that Miracle was living with another injury, however. A sewing needle was discovered in her right thigh, possibly a sign that Miracle had been subjected to previous abuse.

“However, an X-ray revealed a sewing needle was lodged in her right thigh. Miracle underwent a procedure to safely remove the needle and is currently recovering with Animal Services,” wrote the department.

The woman arrested was a 35-year-old named Allison Murphy.

She has been charged with resisting an officer with violence and felony animal cruelty. The woman had reportedly attacked a maid earlier and had threatened to jump off the balcony. This incident could have gone a lot worse. Thankfully, no dogs or humans were seriously hurt.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office posted the bodycam footage of one of the arresting officers to social media. The clip ends with photos of Miracle that show the dog is healthy and was unharmed by the incident.

“Much respect goes to our law enforcement and doctors who rescued Miracle! Heartbreaking that a human can do something so cruel to an animal who only seeks our love and affection! I’m relieved that there was a happy ending to this horrific incident and that Miracle will be just that to the person/family that adopts her!!” wrote one person in the comments section.

The bodycam footage of the incident is below.

The footage does involve a violent act committed to a dog, however, so viewer discretion is advised.
