Woman's boyfriend works tirelessly to build her dog the backyard he deserves
Home Improvement
Having the company of an animal is truly an experience worth having. While not a small feat by any measure, itâs the comfort of knowing you have a loyal companion willing to go with you that extra mile through thick and thin.
In certain cases, the glorified version of that trusty steed boils down to the reality of a not-so-patient, destructive pet that will chew your couch up to no end.
Not all of these situations, however, end in disaster. Take Colorado woman, KaTarra Taylor, who recently adopted a âdestructive, aggressive, and untrustingâ doggo in the hopes of building a bond with the rambunctious pooch as well as change the beastâs crazy habits.
When KaTarra decided it was time to move in with her newly rescued doggy, she decided to make the move to a small townhouse in Colorado Springs. Immediately, KaTarra realized her backyard was going to need to be fixed in order to give her dog the best space possible to play around in.
KaTarraâs dog, Bentley the Bloodhound, isnât exactly the best example of an easy dog to take care of. In the past, Bentley experienced many behavioral issues as well as various moments of aggression.
After training Bentley and aiding him through his anxiety, KaTarra knew that having an area where Bentley can have fun and relax would be more than ideal. She began to brainstorm ideas and proposed a grassy backyard would be the best way to handle this.
Getting The Backyard Ready
In the beginning, there was nothing but concrete. Luckily for KaTarra, she brought up her idea to her boyfriend and he jumped right on the wagon. He managed to take it upon himself to help her do something about Bentley. He was determined to work without stop to replace the concrete slabs with grass that would be suitable for the doggo. KaTarra shared her process on social media.
âI took him in at 4. I was his 5th home and everyone had given up on him. He was destructive, aggressive, and untrusting. I was in a 1 bedroom apartment but I couldnât let him go back to the rescue again after not doing well at my parents home. I worked tirelessly to leash train him, treat his anxiety, diagnose and treat his severe allergies, and break his aggression.â KaTarra said.
The pictures that were posted documented her and her boyfriendâs trials to try and remodel the backyard. The first step was pulling up all the tiles and making sure the ground is cleared off to set the patches of grass in. Finally, we can see the end result in the picture showing Bentley laying out on the new grass. Itâs pretty evident that heâs enjoying the transformation! It looks like Bentley will be enjoying the wonderful feel of grass for some time to come.
It melted our hearts to see KaTarraâs boyfriend perform such an act of kindness for her and her Bentley. The funny thing is, he was at first apprehensive because he had a slight fear of dogs! âWell, this weekend my awesome boyfriend worked his ass off to build Bentley his yard. For the dog he hates⌠Weâre so luckyâ mentioned KaTarra.
Well one thing is for sure, Bentley sure does appreciate what KaTarra and her boyfriend did for him and he will surely start behaving like the good boy he is.
