Malnourished stray dog collapses on woman's porch and slowly transforms into gorgeous puppy

This dog was not a pretty sight when Lisa Chiarelli and Lisa Arturo of the L.A.-based Big Love Animal Rescue and Frankie Lol & Friends found him.

The poor dog was covered in so much dirt and mange that his eyes could barely open.

The two got a tip about the stray or feral dog from a local who witnessed the being abused by people in the neighborhood. Yes, grown adults were throwing rocks at a helpless dog.

Chiarelli and Arturo drove around for about a half hour to see if they could track down the dog.

They kept looking for the next four or five hours but couldn’t find him.

So, they asked the homeowner who called to leave a blanket out on her porch.

The next day the dog was found there.

He was so cozy in that blanket he didn’t even want to bolt when the two Lisas arrived.

“He was so full of scabs and wrinkles that we couldn’t even see his eyes,” Chiarelli and Arturo told The Dodo.“We weren’t sure how old he was.”

After luring the dog into the with some chicken, Chiarelli and Arturo brought him straight to the vet.

The dog seemed to be in much higher spirits after getting a nice bag. He was wagging his tail like crazy.

“He was grateful and it’s just so cool watching the transformation and watching his hair grow in,” the Lisas said.

The dog may have been suffering from mange.

According to Merck Veterinary Manual, mange is caused by microscopic mites that invade an animal’s skin.

It causes irritation, itching, hair loss, and inflammation. Mange is typically spread by wildlife, like foxes. So, if you have an outdoor animal they might be susceptible to getting mange.

“Most types of mange are highly contagious. Both dogs and cats are very susceptible. Horses and other domestic animals can also be infected. There are several types of mange that affect dogs, including canine scabies (sarcoptic mange), ear mites (otodectic mange), walking dandruff (cheyletiellosis), and trombiculosis,” Dr. Michael W. Dryden writes.

Once the dog’s skin condition cleared up and he was deemed healthy, it was put up for adoption.

“When I saw him I was like wow I think he could be the one. So, we adopted him and he fit in seamlessly. He gets along great with our female rottweiler,” said the dog’s new mom Amy. “I know dogs can recover emotionally pretty quickly.”

“He’s come out of his shell. So, this whole garden area is his now,” his new dad Kieran said. “He just runs around chasting things.”

Amy says their new buddy is a real “goofball.”

“He’s just so lovable we just got so lucky,” said Amy.

The video of this dog’s amazing transformation was viewed more than 2.8 million times on YouTube.

“Whoever throws rocks at this dog, feel shame. You’re kicking a poor lad while he’s down, he’s a wee baby. So yeah, screw you guys, but thank god that some people saw him, and decided to help the poor lad. He’s a wee champion, for surviving and getting through as much as he did. I hope that he has a good life, like all doggos deserve,” one YouTube commenter wrote.

“He’s so beautiful. I’m glad he’s fully recovered. He has a loving nature just like the people that rescued him and adopted him,” said another.
