Woman approaches six helpless and abandoned puppies shivering on a roadside
It is such a pity to see a homeless dog jumping from one dumpster to another just to survive. Not to mention the dangers that await them out there in the open, either from cruel people or aggressive dogs.
Now imagine all those happening, not to a grown dog but to puppies. It’s a frightening scene, isn’t it? As helpless as they can be, puppies are no match for harsh weather, bigger dogs, and cruel people that might throw something at them just to shoo them away.
Heroes on the go
One day, Donna and Natalie of Stray Rescue of St. Louis in Missouri, saw a black pile of puppies. The helpless babies were all drenched and shivering from the cold weather outside.
Luckily, a concerned bus driver saw them and reported it to the right people. If not because of him, the puppies’ fate would’ve been different, if not tragic.
When animal rescuers Donna and Natalie arrived, they initially saw only 4 puppies, but as they wandered around, they saw other two helpless pups entangled in some dried plants and all sorts of trash. Thankfully, they were able to retrieve and rescue all six puppies.
They placed them all inside their vehicle, safe and sound, and drove to their facility to assess them.
On their way, the pups gave it a rest as they all slumbered on some thick blankets. They all looked so weak and tired, after all, no one could actually tell how long had they been on that part of the roadside.
They were shaking and quietly whining with their eyes closed, thankfully, they were finally found and out of that hopeless place.
Warm, clean, and full
Inside the Stray Rescue of St. Louis facility, Donna and Natalie gave the pups a fresh and warm bath to start things up. They then followed it up by giving the rescued babies some clean drinking water.
And the much-awaited part of the rescue was feeding the puppies who appeared to be extremely hungry. As the rescuers laid the bowl with dog food down, all six pups lined up and hurriedly gobbled in everything inside it.
These poor babies were surely abandoned by their cruel owners to starve there on the side of the road.
Days passed and all six puppies looked like getting well from their previous horrendous condition.
A better place and soon, a forever home
Eventually, the puppies were sent to a foster home where they prepare themselves before being legally and officially adopted by a kind owner or family who wouldn’t do the same to them, leaving them like trash.
One online viewer saw their video online and couldn’t agree more, “It always breaks my heart when I see this, not just for the abandoned puppies, but that people don’t even have the decency to surrender the animals to a rescue or shelter. If you can’t get to a shelter for whatever reason, there are groups you can call that will come and get them. There’s no excuse for just dumping them off like that.”
To honor St. Patrick’s Day, they named the puppies some lucky Irish names; O’Brien, O’Keefe, O’Neil, O’Hara, O’Mara, and O’Reily.
