Workers deceive panda mom into taking care of twins

Giant Panda, Panda Bear, or simply Panda is China’s national treasure. This creature from the ‘bear family’ is known to be highly exalted and yet there are now less than 1,900 in the wild. Zoos around the world cater 300 of them and they let them live freely while being taken care of experts.

It actually took a long while before Scientists are able to decide and classify Pandas as “bears”.

Their trademark black and white hair color combination makes them camouflage in the thick, dense patches of bamboo.

Pandas can grow up to about five feet tall. A male Panda can weigh up to 160 kg while females can weigh up to 125 kg. The average weight of an adult Panda is 100 to 115 kg.

They have an unquenchable appetite for bamboo and will eat up to about 28 pounds of it. They can eat a bountiful of this grass because it’s low in nutrients. When they run out of bamboo supplies, they will resort to supplement their diets by feeding in rodents, fish, and birds.

They also hate being around their own kind but they do not mind being around humans.

In fact, they trust humans so much that they would entrust their babies to the people who take care of them.

In this video, a foster Panda mom was tricked by her caretakers into taking care of twin cubs.

Quan Quan is a cub, and he is nursing while mama grooms him so he’s always camera ready for their visitors. But unbeknownst to mom, there’s another cub, named Ling Bing, waiting for his turn to gulp her fresh milk.

Actually Quan Quan and Ling Bing are twin brothers, anyway, even though they are not- who can tell Pandas apart, right?

The cubs are just three months old when they need to be swapped for some mommy time.

To make this possible, the people from the facility need to distract mama Panda with food and that is none other than – bamboo!

They are being swapped every five days and who can guess if mama knows this scheme or not?

The caretakers need to have a presence of mind and be agile to execute the swap. It’s not just a simple swap from one cage to another, they need to move fast before the bamboo runs out.

It looks like the plan is working.

The men have to move with so much swiftness, they must execute the swap as quick as possible before mama Panda even notices that her baby is missing. Just like what the narrator said in the video,

“It is essential the swap happens quickly before foster mom notices baby is missing. A bamboo distraction can only last so long.”

Getting baby Quan Quan to the nursery is a success, the race to deliver Ling Bing to their foster mama Panda is now on.

Luckily, they are just in the nick of time when they have finally arrived.

Foster mama Panda and her baby, which she doesn’t have any idea who, are back into each other’s arms again.

We think mama Panda could care less who she holds, what’s important to her probably is that she gets to live her purpose as a mom. The best thing about this is that Panda foster moms like her are becoming a huge help in saving their species.

Here’s what the online viewers said about the video.
