A wedding is life’s most memorable occasion. Giving their friendship a new name is a defining moment for two lovers.

Even though it is a special occasion, it is not without emotional moments. In fact, it is the most emotional moment in one’s life.

No matter how you prepare yourself emotionally for the day, you’ll be filled with tears!

And this wedding was no different. Everyone went into tears the moment the bride walked with her grandpa.

The wedding was held in Bialystok, Poland. It was a very emotional moment for everyone. Joanna Sema, the bride, walked down the aisle with her grandpa.

The moment was even more emotional because of the story the grandpa carries.

He was no ordinary grandpa, he had a rich history.

His name is Bronislaw ‘Grom’ Karwowski. Judging by the clothes and the medals he adorned, you probably know where he comes from and the legacy he carries.

He was a World War II veteran

During his service, Grom was captured at Gestapo headquarters in Lomza, north-eastern Poland by the Nazis. But even the Nazis couldn’t contain the bravery of Grom as he managed to escape. Today, Germany is Nazi-free thanks to the efforts of people like Grom.

But Grom and his story don’t end there.

While Grom did manage to escape, it was short-lived. The veteran was later arrested and had to spend a good amount of his time behind bars.

After spending 10 years of his life in prison, Grom eventually found freedom and he saw light. Upon reaching home, Karwowski was given the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland.

When he found freedom, he decided to start his family and live the life he deserved.

After years of service, his life found a new purpose. He had a new goal in his life—to attend his granddaughter’s marriage.

Like most of his life challenges, he completed this one too and attended his granddaughter’s marriage.

In August 2018, Grom walked his granddaughter down the aisle at her wedding.

It was a heartfelt moment. Even the groom cried the moment he saw the bride’s grandpa.

Sadly, this was the last march by grandpa.

Two days after attending his granddaughter’s wedding, the veteran was found no longer among the living.
