Parents freeze when they see young son run back into burning home to try to save his baby sister

In December 2020, the Davidson family from New Tazewell, Tennessee, experienced a true nightmare. A family of five were tucked in, and comfortable, and they went to sleep not knowing that the smell of smoke will wake them up. The fire destroyed their house completely. However, things could have ended a lot worse if it wasn’t for Eli Davidson.

The brave boy was a true hero, he jumped through a window of a burning home, went back in, and save his 22-month-old sister Erin. A lot of adults would be afraid to do what Eli did, and he deserves to be called a young Superman.

Nicole and Chris Davidson were able to get their two sons out of the burning house, but the true horror began when they realized that the baby girl was still inside

We can’t imagine the state of shock and panic this family went through. Imagine being wakened up by the horrible smell of smoke, knowing how dangerous a fire can be.

Because their bedroom was closest to the exit door, Davidsons grabbed their two sons, Elijah and Eli, and helped them to get out. Erin’s bedroom was surrounded by fire. There was no way to go back for her.

Chris, the father of three kids, asked Eli to pick him up and send him back in through a window. Eli was the only one who was small enough for such a challenge.

“I didn’t want my sister to die,” said Eli in an interview with WVLT

“I was scared,” explained the courageous boy.

It’s perfectly understandable. Who wouldn’t be scared to go back into a burning house?! The impressive part of the story is that Eli actually did it, and he’s only 7. At first, he couldn’t reach his sister, and he was afraid to go further towards the flames.

“I got her dad” were probably the most relieving words the family has ever heard. Eli handed his sister to their dad, then he was also pulled outside.

Luckily, no one was hurt, but the family home was a total loss

Eli’s family was left with nothing. “We lost everything that we have ever had,” said Chris later. “Our entire lives were in that home,” he further explained.

Their three cars were also damaged in the fire, and Nicole finished the interview by saying that “You have never been as humble as you are when you don’t even have your underwear to wear.”

To make things worse, Nicole and Chris Davidson’s family job suffered a lot due to the pandemic, and Nicole’s grandfather passed away

Even in such terrible circumstances, the Davidsons were lucky to be alive and well. The community has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the family’s recovery.

The goal was to raise $5,000, but they’ve already got more than $364,700. You can donate by clicking here.

Amazingly, Nicole and Chris have fostered 34 children, including Eli

We hope that such a giving family will receive much-needed help to rebuild soon. The Davidsons fostered Eli a little over a year ago, and they couldn’t be more proud of him.

Both parents are former firefighters, and they say that it’s a miracle that everyone got out of the house in time. We couldn’t be happier for them. They’re safe, it’s all that matters.

You can prevent a disaster like this from happening by testing your smoke alarms regularly, and by inspecting all your heating sources

Make sure that your stove and oven are clean, and never leave the curtains hanging too close to the stove. Don’t leave cooking food unattended, keep in mind that it only takes a couple of seconds for a fire to break out.

Store flammable products properly, and make sure that chords or wires at your home aren’t damaged. These measures are very important because they could save your life.
