Young girl sees terrified elderly couple in grocery store and refuses to ignore the situation

In the age of coronavirus, vulnerable people are terrified to shop for groceries. This one couple is no longer scared thanks to the generosity of a stranger.

There’s one place where social distancing is still incredibly difficult to practice: the supermarket.

Thanks to coronavirus, supermarkets are often packed with people bulk buying. This means that it’s almost impossible to maintain six-feet of distance from other people throughout a supermarket visit.

One old couple in Gilbert, Arizona had become incredibly worried about coronavirus. They knew that they had to take extreme caution. So the unavoidable supermarket trips had become nothing short of complete hell.

But one young woman noticed the couple in a Trader Joe’s in town and asked them if she could help out. She could see that the couple was literally crying. So the young woman went on to explain that she had the free time to shop for them in the future.

The couple was incredibly grateful. Someone with nothing to gain herself had offered to help them.

Someone else in the store overheard the young woman volunteering to help the couple and thought that she was amazing. So she took a photo of the person and sent the story to the town’s official Twitter account. The account tweeted the image and story, and pretty soon it had gained hundreds of likes and a range of supportive comments. People have been saying things like this:

Since then, the young woman has made good on her promise. Every single week, she does the old couple’s grocery shopping and leaves the groceries on their doorstep.

Thanks to her kindness, the couple does not have to come into contact with anyone who might have coronavirus.

The anonymous young woman in this story really is setting a strong example for us all to follow. Now more than ever, we need to help people in a responsible way who are at risk. Sadly, we cannot spend time with older people. But we can help them out like this.

Of course, just social distancing and staying at home is also helping people by reducing the spread of the disease.

Amazingly, this story is not just a one-off. In fact, the internet has been praising a range of people who have been looking out for others during this crisis.

For instance, there are stories of people who have used their canceled events as opportunities to send food to people in quarantine. Others have celebrated other people’s weddings from their cars, sang happy birthday to 80-year-old women from their balconies and done many other similar heartwarming events.

In the future, we will all look back on 2020 as a difficult time. But it’s also undeniable that there will also be numerous stories of people who did what they could for others and did what they could to make life bearable for the vulnerable.

The message is clear: Look out for people in your community right now. Take steps to ensure that they are safe without endangering anyone else’s health
