8-year-old guitarist covers John Denver's 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' and it's adorably perfect

8-year-old Gail Sophicha stunned listeners all over the world back in October 2014, when she shared a cover of John Denver’s classic song, “Leaving on a Jet Plane.”

What makes her soft rendition of the song so special and impressive is, of course, her age! She is so young, yet she is already playing her acoustic guitar like an absolute professional.

She switches back and forth between guitar-picking and strumming and makes every chord change seamless. Her singing is great as well — her voice is so pure and sweet and she nails every note perfectly on pitch. She makes it look so easy and she looks so happy to be doing it — pure charm!

Sophicha was lucky to discover her talent and passion — music — so early on because she excels at it and exudes happiness.

The little girl hails from Thailand and should be around 14-years-old now.

Funny enough, she even auditioned on Thailand’s Got Talent, which earned her tons of fans and praise from all over the world. It was her big break, which was obviously deserved.

Now she records and uploaded videos to YouTube under the username GelGus, where she has over 575k subscribers.

She continues to sing and play her own renditions of songs on a pretty regular basis as well as her very own original songs.

She is clearly so talented! Her transitions are seamless and she asserts herself with confidence, it is as if she has been playing since she was born! And the meaning behind the song also makes it extra sweet — we can’t help but think this is the most endearing thing we have ever seen.

The original song, which was written back in 1966 by John Denver, is just as sweet, so it’s nice that Sophicha was able to maintain its mood.

It became one of those perfect songs to listen to when you are about to part ways. It’s kind of a bittersweet record.

It has been used many times since its release — in commercials and films — and in fact, even Peter, Paul, and Mary went on to make their own rendition of the song. Pretty fitting!

In addition to making peaceful, happy music, Denver was also an actor, humanitarian and environmentalist. His music stretched across four decades while he also made his best efforts to make a difference and change the world for the better.

Fast-forward to today and Denver is still very much loved by the world. His songs are timeless and will never go out of style, and that’s why it was perfect that Sophicha took a spin at one of them.

Even though the song was written way before her time, it still felt like such a good fit because it really has a pureness to it. And it has a message that people will never stop relating to.
