Best friends of nearly 80 years move into care facility together

One thing is for sure: these two wonderful ladies are most definitely friends for life. It can be quite hard to maintain friendships as you get older because everybody has their own busy life or people just grow apart. However, that canât be said for these two best friends who met each other almost eight decades ago and are still going strong.
Meet the lovely ladies Olive Woodward and Kathleen Saville, theyâve been friends ever since they were 11.

They first met when they were pre-schoolers, and with 78 years of friendship under their wing, they arenât planning on stopping anytime soon. Their life stories are absolutely adorable.
Recently, they made a drastic life decision together. Even though Olive and Kathleen have practically been almost inseparable for all those years, they were about to become the closest to each other that theyâve ever been.

The two ladies are moving into the same senior care home together, so they wonât have to miss each other for a single day!
The two still recall the first day they met in class at Ravenshead School in Nottingham. Itâs pretty unique for a childhood friendship to last almost eight decades, but Olive and Kathleen are living proof that itâs possible.
Olive and Kathleen actually lived quite close together when they first became friends, so itâs all coming full circle. The 11-year-olds lived down the road from each other, meaning playdates were easily arranged.
And their bonds were even strengthened by their respective families in their later years. Both Kathleenâs as Oliveâs husbands had a job at the same company, Coal Board, so these two regularly saw each other at family occasions as well. It also made sure that the two friends would always live closeby to each other because of their husbandsâ jobs.
Unfortunately, Kathleenâs husband passed away in 1989.

After 35 years of being married, Kathleen decided to stay at home on her own for a while. Just a couple of years ago, she decided that she couldnât live independently anymore so she moved into a senior care home, Berry Hill Park in Mansfield.
Tragically, Olive suffered the same fate fifteen years later in 2004 when her husband passed away. Olive had a large family of two daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, but she continued to live on her own.
One day, she decided that she had enough of the loneliness, and she moved into Kathleenâs senior home.

After almost 80 years, these two best friends are now actually under the same roof together â and they absolutely love it.
Olive and Kathleen are the two oldest residents at the home and everybody absolutely adores them. They like living there, as the two of them can spend some quality time with each other and family members can still visit them whenever they like.
These two adorable ladies simply canât get enough of each other. As a matter of fact, itâs as if they were two giggling schoolgirls once again.

âWe sometimes have to knock the staff into shape. I just raced one of the managers down the hallway for a laugh,â Kathleen said to Bored Panda. âIâm so glad Olive is here now, weâre like giggling schoolgirls and we still put on our lippy and get dressed up. We always say to each other âif youâve got it, flaunt it.ââ
âThey never stop chatting and giggling. Itâs so endearing, they genuinely love each other and you can see that,â the home manager Sally Tebbett told BBC.
