Most people think of grizzly bears as being, well, grizzly. But this video shows why so many kids want stuffed animal toys of them.

Have you ever thought how weird it is that bears have become the most popular stuffed animal toy?

Surely, it would make more sense for dogs, cats or another more commonly accepted as “cute” animal to be the number one stuffed animal toy? After all, most hikers hope to stay well clear of bears, because they’re so damn frightening.

But one video has reminded the internet of just how sweet bears can be.

It all began in early June 2020, when a mother bear and her four cubs needed to cross a road. Unfortunately, the road was pretty busy, and the bears were just too scared to make a move across it.

Luckily, someone driving by noticed the nervous animals and called up some park rangers.

The rangers went about closing off the road. Soon, all of the cars nearby stopped.

After a while, the mother bear seemed to realize that it would be possible to safely cross from one part of the road to the other.

But she was still cautious, as many people had gotten out of their cars and were watching her.

So the mother walked forward, her babies following.

At the edge of the road, just like a human, she looked left and right, ensuring that there were no oncoming vehicles.

The mother and her cubs then slowly crossed the road, looking at all of the people who were staring at her.

Eventually, the mother reached the other side. The onlookers started cheering. Then the mother and the cubs started running rapidly into the forest. Soon, they had disappeared.

Luckily, someone was filming the entire thing. They then posted their footage to YouTube. Many people on the site have appreciated this video, saying things like this:

This story took place in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. This national park is teeming with incredible wildlife. As well as grizzly bears, it’s filled with black bears, marmots, pikas, elk, deer, coyotes, bison, mountain lions, wolverines and much more.

Grizzly bears are currently thriving in the wild. But that wasn’t always the case.

In the early 20th century, aggressive hunting severely reduced the grizzly bear population. By the 1960s, experts believed that there were only 600 to 800 left in the wild.

Luckily, in 1975, the US Endangered Species Act became law, protecting grizzly bears from hunters.

It also led to the US Fish and Wildlife Service establishing recovery zones for the bears.

Today, experts state that there are between 1,400 to 1,700 grizzly bears in the continental USA. This increase is great news. However, the population once numbered 50,000.

sSome people are trying to delist grizzly bears from the endangered species list. The most recent attempt took place in 2017. Luckily, federal courts blocked this attempt, ensuring that bears like the one in this video can live in peace.
