Dog was neglected and abandoned to the shelter as a stray – but managed to beat every odd
German shepherds are considered one of the most popular dog breeds in America.
As described by Dogtime.com:
“Theyâre intelligent and capable working dogs. Their devotion and courage are unmatched. And theyâre amazingly versatile, excelling at most anything theyâre trained to do: guide and assistance work for the handicapped, police and military service, herding, search and rescue, drug detection, competitive obedience, andâlast but not leastâfaithful companion.”
But one German Shepherd has gone through the darkest corners of life. It was almost impossible for him to survive – but miraculously, he did.
This dog was in all sorts of danger until help arrived.
The German Shepherd was chained outside in freezing weather and nearly froze to death. Since then, rescuers and people have been calling him a “miracle pup.”
When Caesar arrived at the shelter, he was starving and malnourished, incapable of walking and in a comatose state.
His front teeth were worn down from chewing on a chain and, on top of it all, he also had a bad eye and a bad leg. Sadly, he was also diagnosed with cancer. But believe it or not, he took all these challenges head-on and was triumphant.
Caesar’s previous owner was not a good liar.
Caesar’s previous owner had actually made the report about the dog but had told Kansas City Pet Project them that Caesar was a stray. However, the truth prevailed when Nancy Campbell from Missouri German Shepherd Rescue discovered the real story.
She learned that Caesar’s previous owner lied. Later on, he tried to deceive people by telling them that the poor dog had already been missing for a month, then eventually revealing the truth – that he simply hadn’t known what to do with the dog. Leaving himself with no other choice, he signed Caesar over to the rescue.
Caesar may have overcome the odds, but it was not an easy battle.
It took the “miracle pup” months to recover from numerous health problems. It was a long, hard battle of endurance and perseverance. Of course, his desire to be healthy and to continue living gave him the drive to stay strong.
He was so malnourished and underweight that he couldn’t even walk properly on his own. Veterinarians also found cancerous lumps on his body. He endured all these and more.
During his cancer treatment, Caesar felt âa bit under the weatherâ but his bravery was at a different level. He showed remarkable progress each day.
He was also given a bunch of toys, something that he has never had before – and it’s all thanks to the generous donors who flooded the shelter with donations.
Caesar started to show improvement and eventually, he was out of the dark shadows.
Eventually, Caesar got back into shape, started to gain weight, and began walking by himself. Those cancerous lumps are now also gone. After four months of chemotherapy, Caesar was finally given the “all clear” by the vets who diligently gave him the help that he needed.
“Caesar is sort of a miracle dog. The reality is cancer came at the end, and he has come through it like a champ,” Nancy told the Action News.
MOGS’s (Missouri German Shepherd Rescue) new wish is for Caesar to get a new forever home. And we’re sure they’ll have no problems. Who could say “no” to this brave fella?
Way to go, Caesar!
