Celebrating holidays safely and securely during a pandemic isn’t the easiest thing in the world. Still, many of us made it work with family and friends, often at a distance. Despite the restrictions, some people still tried to party and there were some definite crackdowns from law enforcement.

The Christmas Eve shift required one officer in Escambia County to be out instead of at home.

Sheriff Tomas was patrolling in his car when he got a call that Christmas eve. The call came in that a local home had filed a noise complaint with their neighbors and was also concerned about the COVID-19 restrictions.

When he arrived, however, it was a bit of a different story.

It wasn’t a party that people were throwing to spite the restrictions, it was just a local dance group! The dance group was known as the Pensacola Prancing Pirouettes 3P and they were working on their moves!

When he walked in on the rehearsal, he was shocked by their response.

Most people pause what they are doing when an officer walks into a room. These dancers did no such thing! They just decided to act like he was a challenging dancer! They all strutted up to him and continued on with their dancing.

It was basically like a dance showdown!

We’ve all seen dance challenges where a rival group walks up to another and challenges them to a dance-off. The Pensacola Prancing Pirrouettes seemed to be doing that with Sheriff Tomas! Even better, he was totally down for the challenge.

Walking out on the dance floor, he broke out some moves that you only learn in the police academy.

With the confidence of a pro, Sheriff Tomas strutted out on the floor like an absolute pro. The girls watching him had no idea what to expect and were bracing themselves for a serious challenge.

When he started dancing, it was amazing!

In full uniform, Sheriff Tomas went to town with his amazing moves. Moving with fluidity and style, he dropped it in a way that you might think he danced before he was a cop!

The hilarious moment went viral on the internet as soon as people saw it.

With something as outrageous and hilarious as a cop accepting a dance challenge, it was bound to blow up. The great title said:

“Noise complaint turns into standoff with police right before Christmas!”

Not the kind of standoff you would expect, but the one we needed!

In a time of fear and a worldwide pandemic, little moments like this are great for the soul.

Not all officers would have reacted as charitably as Sheriff Tomas did. We got an amazing and uplifting video from his kind actions. People need to be reminded that you can still have fun and be goofy during scary times!
