Proud Dachshund mama poses for adorable photos with her new babies

When you are a momma dog, you tend to have a lot of puppies. After one Dachshund dog mom had her litter of puppies, she was so proud of them that her owner just had to order a photoshoot for her.

A photoshoot is planned

The whole adorable photoshoot started with a request for some handmade baby bonnets. Selling crochet items in her Esty shop, the owner of Babybybecca received a unique order from the photographer, Belinda Schenk, who was her friend. A request was put in for the bonnets and a Dachshund-sized outfit for the mother-to-be, whose name is Mia.

The items were intended for a photoshoot for the dog mom and her babies once they were born, with a maternity shoot to take place beforehand.

The photoshoot was a success

The photoshoot was a total success, so Becca decided to share the photos on her Instagram page. She posted the photos with the caption:

“So, this mama just had her babies, and what do you do after a maternity photoshoot??? The newborn session. 6 tiny puppy-sized bonnets being delivered today!!!”

The results were more than cute, as Becca, with Schenk’s help, fashioned six tiny puppy hats, a different color for each of the tiny puppies. On the day of the puppy photoshoot, Mia was so proud of her litter as she posed right beside them.

The puppies didn’t even know that they were being photographed as they slept soundly, all bundled up beside their mom in a fuzzy, white blanket.

Wanting to prove a point

The dog’s owner, Monica Sanchez of McAllen, Texas, had decided to order the photoshoot for her son. “I didn’t have dogs or puppies growing up,” she told TODAY. “And I wanted my son to see that. I’m just real crazy about capturing moments.”

A surprising proposition for Schenk

Schenk says she was really surprised when Sanchez contacted her with the strange proposal.

“In my mind, since I specialize in maternity and newborns, I’m thinking, ‘OK, another regular maternity session,'” Schenk said. “But at the end, she said, ‘It’s actually for my dogs,’ and I wanted to laugh, because I was shocked!”

As for Mia, Schenk says she was very well trained. And the reaction to the photos online has left the photographer thrilled.
