You never hope it happens to you — someone putting you in a situation that seems to come out of leftfield. Those times are especially hard when they involve an individual making a judgment call that’s completely off-base. That’s what Luc Perreault from Ontario, Canada faced one day while doing a simple task…testing his mom’s motorbike.

He decided to make a pitstop

While helping his mother out, Luc decided to stop by Tim Horton’s. As you probably know, that’s a famous coffee shop chain with locations throughout North America. As Luc pulled up, he noticed a little girl. Politely, she waved. But what happened next wasn’t what he anticipated.

Luc looks like a “Dirty Biker”

When seeing this guy for the first time, people can’t help but notice several things. For starters, he’s big and bald guy with a mustache and beard. Luc is also a hardcore motorcycle enthusiast. Riding them is one of his passions. But he’s also covered with tattoos. All that combined, some individuals assume he’s a bad dude.

Nothing could be further from the truth

You know the saying, “He’s just a big teddy bear?” That’s a perfect description of Luc. He’s a super nice guy. And in some ways, he’s a lot like everyone else. He has insecurities, which might be hard to believe. He also has issues to deal with. But the last thing he’ll ever do is judge someone by their outward appearance.

Sadly, that’s what one woman did

While raising kids comes with challenges, most parents work hard to teach them to be kind and considerate. So, when the little girl waved at Luc, you’d think her mom would feel proud. She even walked right up to him without any fear whatsoever. In response, he said hi back to her.

That’s when the unexpected occurred

Rather than follow in her daughter’s footsteps of showing kindness, this mom quickly pulled the little girl away. But things became even more disturbing. As they headed in the opposite direction, Luc overheard her tell the child not to ever talk to “Dirty Bikers.” For him, those words stung.

This mom was completely close-minded

Luc knows he looks different than a lot of people, which further pushes him not to judge others based on appearance. Feeling sad and disappointed, the only thing he knew to do was to post about his experience on his Facebook page. Along with that, he wrote a powerful message directed at the woman.

He wanted her to know the real Luc

“To the family in the red SUV at Tim Horton’s today. Yes, I am a big 280-lb guy with motorcycles and full of tattoos. I am a welder. I am loud, I drink beer. I swear and I look like I would eat your soul if you stare at me wrong.”

There’s more behind his look

He continued, “What you don’t know is that I have been happily married for 11 years, my kids call me daddy, I am a college graduate… My mother is proud of me and tells everyone how lucky she is to have such a wonderful son, my nieces and nephews are always happy to see there m’nonci Luc. [sic] When my daughter broke her arm, I cried more than she did.”

He finished by telling this woman that he likes to read and help people. Luc also does everything he can to lend support to war veterans. Maybe, just maybe, this woman read the post and had the chance to rethink how she judges people without getting to know them first.
