Man tries to kidnap little girl – doesn’t realize dog is watching her back
Many dogs have a natural tendency to protect people they know.
This tendency to protect others is shown all over the internet with stories of a dog’s bravery. Dog’s ranging from K9 units to family pets seem to always be acting as a guardian angel for their human friends.
One girl, in particular, is certainly grateful for her family’s guardian angel.
On July 28th, a 10-year-old girl was physically assaulted as she walked her dog through her neighborhood. As the man grabbed her arm, her dog bit the man causing him to release the child and run away. The girl was not injured during this ordeal.
The Prince William County Police Department released a statement on their Facebook saying:
“*INCIDENT: Attempted Abduction | Woodbridge;
At approximately 3:50pm, the victim, a 10-year-old girl, was reportedly walking her dog in the 1800 block of Heather Glenn Ct in Woodbridge when an unknown man approached her and grabbed her arm. During the encounter, the victim’s dog bit the suspect who then released her and fled on foot. A police K-9 checked the area. The suspect was not located. The victim was not injured. The investigation continues.
Suspect Lookout:
Hispanic male, unknown age, 5’3″, 145lbs with a thin build, short brown hair and a goatee. Last seen wearing a white striped shirt and light colored long pants.”
The Facebook post has been shared over 500 times. The internet kept singing praises for the good dog who saved the girl from abduction.
“Give that dog a special treat” one commenter posted.
“Way to go Pup! He deserves extra treats tonight.” another shared.
A K9 unit searched the neighborhood and the surrounding areas, but the police’s search remained unfruitful. This is just one of many scenarios that a child’s dog saved them from an could have been a life-threatening situation.
Dogs have a track record for protecting their family members.
Last year, a pit bull saved a teenage girl from a rapist the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn. He chomped on the attacker’s leg giving his owner time to run away before letting go of the man and running to catch up to her.
Not too long afterward, a woman in the UK was saved by her staffie Lola. The attacker snuck up behind her and pulled her into a dark alley while covering her mouth to prevent any calls for help. Lola bit the man’s arm and scared him away from the scene.
Dogs are truly the best, and they will do their best to protect the people they love. When I was growing up, my Dad never let me walk in the dark without our family dog by my side. It’s a habit I’ve carried into adulthood. I know my dog will keep any potential attackers away from me.
