Dogs get together to pose for most adorable Christmas Nativity scene
The Nativity scene is synonymous with the Christmas holiday, especially if you are of the Christian faith. The Nativity has been represented by everything from light-up lawn ornaments to Christmas plays put on by local churches. You can now add dogs to the list of items used in celebrating this iconic scene.
Groomer Jo Kingston has a great idea
Dog groomer Jo Kingston, who runs Wags to Riches in Leicestershire, England, used dogs in his recreation of the popular Nativity scene, which deals with the birth of Jesus Christ. Taking a photo of the recreation, Kingston posted it on the business’ Twitter page where it quickly went viral.
“I woke up and somebody tagged me in this photo saying, ‘Jo, you’ve gone viral,’” Jo told the BBC. “I’ve had so many people messaging me. I didn’t expect this at all.”
Kingston and his staff set the scene
The dogs were wrapped in blankets and towels and then arranged in various positions, representing the various figures from the Nativity. The blankets and towels looked just like robes. To give it a special touch, Kingston and his staff put a tiny puppy in the manger to represent the Baby Jesus.
Of course, the Internet couldn’t get enough. Before Kingston knew it, the post had been retweeted over a thousand times.
The dogs are content to sit there and have their photo taken, for a treat
According to Kingston, the dogs were perfect subjects, sitting quietly as they waited for their photo to be taken. Of course, the also expected a treat afterward, which they were quickly given by the staff at Wags to Riches as a thank you for their cooperation.
“They were all happy to sit for the photo,” the owners told The Dodo. “It’s amazing what dogs will do for a biscuit.”
Other holiday pictures
The Nativity scene picture was so popular that the business decided to take pictures of dogs posing for other holidays. One of these includes New Year’s which featured the dogs decked out for a New Year’s Eve celebration, complete with confetti, festive hats, and alcohol. Of course, the little guy in the picture won’t be drinking any of that.
Valentine’s Day was a must
There’s also Valentine’s Day, with the dogs sitting idly by. It almost looks like they are waiting for their dates to show up. The little dog on the end seems a little miffed that he or she has been left waiting for so long, or maybe the dog just wants the promised treat from sitting still for so long.
A continuing tradition
The business also took a photo of dogs lined up to audition for the popular Nativity scene. For more on Wags to Riches and their popular doggie holiday photos, check out their Twitter page. Here is a video with the opening scene from the Nativity, with voices dubbed in of course.
