Foster mom shops with her three kids then mutters “I’m sorry” to the cashier when she can’t pay

The mother was panicking after the WIC card wouldn’t work and a line was forming. Nick Tate knew that he had to do something to help out.

Nick Tate is a young man who works at Walmart. He’s very popular among colleagues and customers alike, thanks to his friendly demeanor.

But one day, he would go above and beyond.

A woman was next in line with three children. She placed the groceries on the checkout. But when she went to pay, something bad happened.

The mother took out a WIC card and attempted to pay. But she couldn’t get it to work. The mother explained that she had newly fostered the children.

Nick told her that it was fine. But a long line was forming behind her. The other customers were getting restless.

The foster mother kept on trying to get the WIC card to work, but it kept on failing. Now the customers were vocal about the wait.

Nick looked at the foster mother’s groceries. He saw that baby formula was among it for the youngest of the children.

So Nick said that he would be able to cover the cost of the purchases. The foster mother was incredibly grateful to Nick. But he said that it was fine. He paid the $60 cost of the purchases and told the foster mom and her kids to have a great day.

The mom could no longer hold back tears. She told Nick that she was a failure.

Nick told her that she was not a failure and that she was doing an amazing thing for the three kids she was fostering.

The mother thanked Nick again and went on her way.

Soon, Nick’s boss heard about what happened.

He walked up to Nick. Nick was nervous, as anyone might be if their boss approached them out of the blue. But then the boss congratulated Nick for doing the right thing.

Then word of Nick’s good deed spread even further.

People started nominating Nick for the local Pay It 4ward Award. The people who manage the award agreed that Nick was truly deserving of the award.

So a news team and a representative for the award came into Walmart while Nick was working.

The news presenter explained to Nick that people had nominated him for the award.

Then the representative explained to Nick that they were proud of him and handed him $400 in return for his good deed.

Nick was amazed and thanked the award presenter.

Nick’s boss and colleagues all started clapping.

And this isn’t the extent of Nick’s good deeds. Nick also works as a “soccer missionary” and travels to Honduras to work with disadvantaged kids. In the future, he is sure to work to improve other people’s lives.

The news segment featuring Nick’s story and award then appeared on YouTube, where it inspired many people.

To date, it has gained tens of thousands of views. It also has almost 300 likes and many positive comments. People have been saying things like this:
