92-year-old man lovingly helps his wife color her hair in quarantine

Sweet couples like this are one of the many reasons we’re all supposed to be doing our best to stay home amidst the deadly novel coronavirus pandemic.

People around the world let out a collective “aww” back in March when a photo of a an elderly couple from Israel was posted to Facebook. In it, the husband, Ezra, was helping his wife color her hair so she could keep up her appearance while salons remained closed.

He gently and meticulously applies the color as she looks in a hand mirror to give him instructions. And it looks like there’s a lot of care and compassion between this couple.

Yael Shapira Avraham, who both snapped and first posted the photo captioned it:

“These are my grandparents 92 years old (may we be healthy),” per Facebook’s translation. “In every situation, my grandfather is worried that my grandmother will feel well-groomed. You don’t see things like this every day.”

(According to Metro UK, grandma is just 89 – and according to WTHR her name is Ahova, though some outlets are reporting her name as “Beloved,” which is simply the meaning/translation of her actual name.)

While couples have faced all sorts of challenges during quarantine, it appears hair maintenance is right up there at the top with dozens of stories swirling about the good and the bad outcomes of spouse-supervised home haircuts and coloring. But not all of it leaves people on speaking terms.

Avraham told Bored Panda:

“My grandfather always worried about seeing my grandmother well; the love between the two inspires our whole family. It was beautiful to see the image of my grandfather dying my grandmother’s hair because anyone can see in this photo the meaning of true love.”

Avraham also told the outlet that the couple has been married for 67 years!

Together they have four children, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Congratulations are certainly in order for Ezra – he took on one of the hardest parts of coloring hair! Those root touch-ups are no easy task (as people around the world are now finding out). There’s a reason we pay professionals!

Roots too long? You’re bound to end up with banding or “hot roots” where they are a different color than the rest of your hair.

Most of us are stuck looking like this at the moment.

One has to be very careful not to overlap the hair dye too much with the already colored hair – and it appears Ezra is taking his new responsibility as a colorist very seriously.

The photo was shared by Facebook users and media outlets alike and undoubtedly viewed by millions.

Of course, it’s impossible to tell when something is going to go viral, so Ezra and Ahova were truly shocked to find out they had become Internet celebrities and #quarantinecouplegoals.

“They did not expect such a response, and are very happy to see each other on TV,” Avraham told Bored Panda.

After the post reached 55K likes on Facebook, the couple was interviewed by their local news channel and everyone seems quite excited by the attention.

It’s yet another good news story that we could all use right about now.

With that being said, if you can help it, stylists are still begging people not to try and do their own hair at home!
