Art doesnāt just have to be on a canvas. In fact, it can be on any surface, as this husband and wife were determined to show.
Some people see opportunities where others see inconveniences. Mimi and her husband are two of those people.
When they had to cut down a tree in their front yard, they realized they could turn the stump into something eyecatching.

Mimiās husband finished up his cutting down of the tree by carving the remaining stump into a pointed top. Mimi wanted to turn this into a āgnome house,ā as in literally a house for gnomes.
To get Mimi started, the husband went to Loweās and bought some plywood and planking to create a roof.

So they cut up the planking into four-inch squares to mimic roof tiling.
Mimiās husband then nailed the plank bits to two squares plywood. After three layers of planks were on the plywood, Mimiās husband nailed the plywood to the gnome house, connecting the two pieces together with a right angle piece of aluminum. He then attached the rest of the planks to the plywood.

Once the roof was finished, Mimi pushed a shepherdās hook from the backyard into the ground next to the stump. She then intended to place a tiny lantern on it.
Next, Mimiās husband worked on some wooden windows and a door to attach to the stump. Mimi painted them white on the edges and Yellow on the āglassā seeming parts, so it looked like lights were on inside the stump.
Mimiās husband then carved out an arch in the base of the stump for the door.
After Mimiās husband had attached the windows and door to the stump, Mimi finished up the gnome home by adding the lantern, some tiny flowers next to the door, some cobblestones leading up to the door and, naturally, a gnome.

Mimi purchased the gnome from Wallgreens, the lantern from Dollar General and the flowers and cobblestones from Dollar Tree.
Soon, Mimiās neighbors kept on complimenting her on the creative upcycling she had done to the stump. But little did Mimi know that people all over the world would be wowed by the gnome home.
Mimi uploaded a video of the construction and completion of the gnome home to YouTube.
It soon went viral. To date, the video has gained over 3.8 million views. It also has over 700 likes and 100 comments. People have been saying things like this:

In fact, the video has become Mimiās most popular upload on YouTube by far. However, she does have some other videos of her creations that have been popular.
Another well-recieved creation of Mimiās is a Dish Towel Kitchen Angel.
This festive creation is super cheap and super easy to make. The only materials are a dish towel, a dishcloth, a hot pot holder, four rubber bands, a ribbon and a tinsel ribbon. These items are all available at Dollar Tree.
Itās amazing to think that Mimi and her husband are able to come up with such amazing creations at such a little cost.
