Stryker the German Shepard from Lewisville, Texas recently proved himself to be a top tier police pup. He was out on patrol one afternoon with his human partner Pay Robey when, just before 3 o’clock in the afternoon, they were called upon to inspect a suspicious tractor-trailer reported by an anonymous tip.

This was surely a nerve-racking experience because they had no way of knowing what they were about to get into. This is the exhilarating life of a police officer, even as a dog!

Stryker and Robey raced along the Texas highway until they came upon the scene where the trailer was parked. After pulling over, Officer Robey carefully approached the trailer and soon decided there was a need to take a closer look around the vehicle.

He knew just what to do! Robey retrieved his K-9 partner, Stryker, from the police cruiser and walked him over to the tractor-trailer to conduct a sniff search. It wasn’t long before Stryker signaled to his partner that he was able to smell the presence of narcotics somewhere within the tractor-trailer.

“Officer Robey deployed his K-9 partner Stryker to conduct a free air sniff of the tractor-trailer and K-9 Stryker alerted to the presence of narcotics” Lewisville Police Department said in a Facebook post.

At this point, both the human and K-9 officers realized that they had a big situation on their hands (or paws!). Stryker used his training to help pinpoint exactly where the drugs might be, and he determined that they were hidden within the trailer.

Soon a team of officers arrived on the scene to assist with the search. Pulling back a panel revealed a secret hidden compartment full of methamphetamine. There was an astonishing amount hidden within the trailer!

Night had fallen by the time the officers finished the search and unloaded the tractor-trailer. They had collected stacks of over 200 bricks of Methamphetamine, weighing a total of 595 pounds, in the back of their pickup trucks. Stryker had done a great job and led his partners to one of the biggest drug busts in the history of the department! He proudly posed with Officer Robey for a photo.

The estimated street value of the meth Stryker discovered is a staggering $1.2 million. This is a massive win for the health of the public since these drugs will never make it to the streets. Additionally, the seizure of this load is surely a big blow to whoever was going to distribute it.

“Anyone that knows methamphetamine knows how destructive it is to families so it’s definitely important to not have that circulating in our communities,” Capt. Chris Butterworth told CNN.

The police department reported in their Facebook post that Stryker was rewarded well for his heroic deed:

“We understand he got quite a few extra treats, a lot of scratches and as much time as he wanted with his favorite toy”

We should all be proud of Stryker and all of his teammates on the Lewisville Police Department.
