Golden retriever and rescue kitten form bond that catches their owners off guard

When it comes to cats and dogs, the biggest question is are they really enemies? Other than competing for the same food sources in the wild, there is little reason for them to be mortal enemies. This tired stereotype aside; chances are that many households have cats and dogs that are the best of friends. Take Keelo and Koda for instance.

Keelo and Koda quickly became friends

The two became fast friends from the moment that Keelo’s owners brought Koda the kitten home at only a month old. And while Keelo, a golden retriever, might have initially had questions what the little ball of fur his parents brought home was, he soon found that he loved the tiny, little kitten.

Soon, he was acting as if he was Koda’s big brother, playing around with the kitten, being extra careful not to be too rough with him. Keelo even let Koda play around on top of him, and didn’t seem to mind one bit, even when he was asleep. It’s just another part of the loving relationship they share.

Keelo’s owners commented on how much the two cuddles, especially Koda, who likes to snuggle up against the bigger dog. Keelo just takes it all in stride, responding with affection in kind. Koda also likes to sneak little kisses from his dog big brother. Occasionally, Keelo will return the affection, though his kisses are usually a lot more slobbery.

And while you would think Koda would be a little frightened of playing with the much larger dog, he doesn’t seem to mind or care. He gets right in there with the big dog, though Keelo probably tries to be gentle with his tiny friend. In the end, they are the best of buds that love to spend time together.

The pair’s relationship is probably just an extension of the loving home they both share. Chances are that the duo’s parents probably watched them closely at first, unsure of how the bigger dog would react to the kitten. Eventually, though, the two proved to be able to play nicely together and so their owners could leave them alone and not worry about anyone getting hurt.

What a sweet pair they make, and, at the end of the day, they curl up together and take a nap.
