Young girl learns sign language to deliver a special message to her deaf delivery driver
Sign language can be more elegant and beautiful than verbal words.
After all, this way of communicating comes not only with writing and words but also with gestures.
Learning sign language is essential to communicate with the deaf and mute community. We’re talking about increasing knowledge and empathy here.
Over the last few years, people have been learning non-verbal communication. And yes, the episodes of heartwarming moments have been massive.
One of the most adorable examples took place in England.
It involved an 8-year-old little girl named Tallulah and a Hermes delivery driver named Tim Joseph.
In what has already become a viral video, Tallulah learned sign language to communicate with Tim.
Tim has been deaf since the day he was born, and the beautiful moment took place on Ashton-Under-Lyne in Greater Manchester.
It all started on the day they met each other. Tim has been delivering parcels in the little girl’s street twice a week for months now. When she found out he was deaf, she was sad that she couldn’t communicate with him.
When she discovered that he spoke sign language, she started to learn the basics.
She just wanted to thank Tim for the hard work he has made since the COVID pandemic started.
Tallulah practiced sign language for days, knowing that Tim could come at any moment. She was quite excited and couldn’t stop telling her mother Amy!
When Tim came to their house, Amy grabbed a camera to film her daughter.
She knew that Tallulah would be happy to see Tim and communicate with him. She probably guessed that Tim would be touched by the effort too.
When Tallulah saw Time arriving, she signed “have a good day” to him.
Tim appreciated the gesture so much that he got close to Tallulah to thank her. In addition, he even taught her how to say “good morning, have a good day.”
Tallulah also gave him a rainbow note as another beautiful way of thanking him.
Amy later posted the video to social media.
The video went viral right away, with users pointing out how cute the gesture was.
“This is our @Hermesparcels delivery man, we see him 1 or 2 times a week, the start of lockdown Tallulah drew him a #thankyou, he still has it proudly on show in his van, they have built up quite a friendship over these last few weeks @ststephensaud #proudmum,” Tallulah’s mother tweeted along with the video.
Believe it or not, the video became so famous that the BBC even interviewed Tim.
The media outlet wanted to know what he thought about the whole moment.
The Hermes delivery driver explained he was happy.
He said that it was a beautiful gesture and that it made his day that she learned so fast.
“Tallulah realized I was deaf and then one day she surprised me when she signed to me, “have a good day.” I was very happy and I then showed Tallulah how to sign, “good morning, have a good day” and then she signed it perfectly and it made my day,” Tim told the BBC.
Tallulah’s gesture with Tim shows that despite all problems, the world can be beautiful. We should all learn from the little girl’s example and be more empathic with everyone.
