Man loses it and races toward his lost dogs when he sees them at shelter

Dogs aren’t just pets. For dog owners, they are part of the family. They feed them the right foods, take them to the vet, and engage them in proper mental and physical exercise.

They will do anything to ensure that their dogs are able to live happy and healthy lives. And just like their health and well-being, their dog’s safety is important, too.

When Sandy Hernandez’s dogs suddenly disappeared, he was crushed.

The two Siberian Huskies managed to escape after jumping over the fence in their yard. It was something Sandy wasn’t prepared for.

He spent several days looking for them.

He asked the people in the area. He even posted flyers, hoping that someone was able to spot his dogs. At that point, he felt hopeless.

Sandy thought he’d never see his precious dogs again. He was clearly devastated.

Then, there was a call.

Sandy got a call from a man who introduced himself as the guy who took the dogs to Animal Services. He thought the dogs were homeless. Not wanting to risk their safety, he decided to take them to Miami-Dade Animal Services.

Recalling the event, Sandy shared:

“Yesterday I was posting flyers, I was posting fliers all over the neighborhood. And the guy found it tell me he brought them here yesterday at 1 p.m. so I came running and saw them.”

Sandy immediately went to the institution.

There, he saw his two adorable dogs getting ready to model for the cameras.

The shelter turned them into doggy models for a project with Ocean Drive Magazine. They were trying to promote pet adoption with the help of the two beautiful dogs.

When Sandy saw the dogs, he became emotional.

“That’s my dog, man! That’s my dog,” he shouted as he ran up to them.

It was a heartwarming moment for him and everyone who witnessed the reunion. As soon as Sandy saw the dogs, his tears fell. He was sobbing while hugging his precious pets.

The two blue-eyed huskies recognized their dad immediately.

And just like their owner, they were extremely happy about their reunion. Their tails were wagging in excitement.

Sandy’s dogs are named Ragnar (3 months old) and Kloud (11 months old).

After getting reunited with their human, they will get microchipped to make sure they won’t get lost again.

About microchipping

A pet microchip contains a unique number that can be detected with the use of a microchip scanner. The number is encoded to a microchip database registry along with the details of the pet and the owner.

Microchipping is generally a quick and safe procedure. Contrary to what most people think, it’s not excessively painful. Although some pets may yelp or flinch, the pain is minimal and won’t last long.

Ideally, microchipping should be done before adopting a pet. This enables a more effective tracing of the animal.

Chips aren’t like trackers or GPS devices.

They will only work if someone uses a scanner on the chip. Once the chip’s number and its manufacturer are identified, the owner can be found and contacted.

For a microchip to be effective, pet owners need to make sure that they are able to submit the registration. They need to make sure that it’s current, too. If you move or change phone numbers, you need to update the information.
