While it’s just 38 seconds long, a sweet reunion between mother and son went viral back in 2014 and has now been viewed over 7 million times.

When a Marine surprised his mom for Christmas in 2013 and her reaction is just too sweet to miss.

The big approach

The video was posted by Deral Meek Jr but the servicemember in the uniform is his unnamed brother-in-law.

Whoever captured the moment started the video as the Marine turned the corner onto the porch.

It’s hard to see if he’s nervous as he approaches the door, but we think he probably knows just how his mom will react.

Knock knock

As he knocks on the door, it’s clear that his mother isn’t expecting anyone. It takes a bit for anyone to answer.

The suspense is killing us!

This soldier knows better than to approach a door unprepared though. So he open the screen door and keeps it in place.

That way, the videographer will have a clear view of the reunion without that door slamming around.

Where’s mom?

A few seconds in, we’re starting to wonder if mom is home.

The Marine stands at ease, hands clasped behind his back. Since mom is clearly unprepared for this, is she going to freak out?

We all known the answer to that one.

The soldier flashes a smile at the camera as dogs bark in the background at the sound of someone at the door.

At the very least we know he’s going to get a warm welcome from some furry friends!

As he goes to knock one more time, he stops himself – he can hear someone on the other side of the the door.

And this is where you’ll want to turn down your volume.

Like she just opened the door in a horror movie, mom lets out one heck of a scream at seeing her baby boy!

You have to wonder what anyone else in the house is thinking at this point!

“Imagine being the women’s husband and hearing her scream like that the second she answers the door,” remarked a YouTube commenter.

The best holiday surprise

After she gets over her initial shock, mom goes in for the big hug.

And while we love to see this moment, the smile on the Marine’s face is what warmed our hearts the most.

We’re not alone either.

“That marine’s smile is made of solid gold,” remarked a viewer.

It’s a good thing he’s had combat training because there’s a big, tight hug coming in for a landing.

We just love this moment for both of them – they look so happy. And while we’re not sure how long this soldier had been gone, it looks like he hadn’t seen his mom in quite a while.

“Her reaction is what keeps the world turning,” said a commenter.

There’s nothing like a mother-son reunion to make you reach for the tissues.
