Burglar makes himself comfortable not knowing military neighbor is about to bust him

We don’t even want to imagine how terrifying it is to have someone break into your home.

Unfortunately, burglary is among the most common forms of property crime.

Mark Thompson, a 32-year-old burglar who entered an Albuquerque home in 2017, didn’t see his well-deserved punishment coming.

The homeowner had surveillance cameras installed all over the house and called his neighbors as soon as he saw the intruder on camera.

Amazingly, almost the entire community showed up, and they taught the criminal a lesson. KRQE got ahold of the story, and we want to share it with you. It’s a brilliant turn of events because the bad guy was punished.

Because of a high crime rate, numerous people turn to video surveillance to monitor their homes.

Thompson didn’t know that the house owner would see him on camera when he decided to enter home in Albuquerque.

As soon as the owner was alerted there was movement in his home, he turned on the phone app and got a huge surprise.

Believe it or not, the burglar had the audacity to put on one of the owner’s jackets. Moreover, he turned on the TV, grabbed a beer, and laid down.

Yes, it looks like Mark Thompson decided to make himself at home. The owner couldn’t believe his eyes.

After he called the police, he also informed one of his neighbors of what was going on and asked for help.

Luckily, the neighbor Shandra Vestal has served in the army. She and her husband grabbed their guns and worked out a strategy to surround Thompson.

Shandra waited outside, and her husband walked inside the home. He alerted the burglar and advised him to get down on his knees.

After Thompson kneeled, Shandra came in and taped his hands and ankles.

Neighbors then decided to take Thompson outside.

They left him on the pavement in front of the house until the police came.

The burglar tried to talk his way out of the trouble and said that he wasn’t trying to steal anything.

Can you imagine that Thompson claimed that he just wanted to be friends? Now, that’s another level of playing dumb.

Police later told Vestal that Thompson had broken into another home before entering the house where they found him.

Yes, Thompson seems to be shameless.

He broke into one house, stole some clothes, then put them on, and went to break into the home where Vestal and her husband caught him. Luckily, the owner lives in a fantastic community, where everyone was willing to help.

As it was later revealed, Vestal and the homeowner were colleagues in the army, and that’s how the owner knew that she would surely know what to do. It’s an inspiring story, and Thompson deserved to be punished.

We did a little research and found out that Thompson turned back to crime as soon as he got out of jail.

Mark was incarcerated for two years for the burglary he committed in 2017.

Sadly, he tried to steal again in 2019, shortly after he got out of prison. Once again, police had caught him. Thompson tried to steal some clothes and jewelry, and when the lady owner surprised him on the act, he claimed that it was his home.

Let’s hope that this man will eventually learn his lesson and turn his life around.

Most people never learn from their mistakes, and Thompson seems to belong in that category.

However, we’re more than happy to hear that the owner saved his home. Congratulations to his neighbors for such bravery and selflessness.
