Every day, teacup poodle rides elevator on her own as part of a heartwarming mission

Apart from being loyal, patient friends, and very good company, pets can also aid recovery and provide comfort to sick people. Some hospitals and nursing homes have recognized the benefits of animals’ presence, and are now allowing people to bring them in. The most frequent visitors to the elderly are dogs and cats.

The case of Nala, a loving teacup poodle, is one of the brightest examples of what a mood booster a furry friend can be.

Doug Dawson, a caregiver at the Lyngblomsten Care Center in Minnesota, brought his dog to work, and something wonderful happened

In 2015, residents of a nursing home in Minnesota were in for a huge surprise. Dawson, who worked here, decided to bring his dog with him, and it turned out to be an amazing decision.

Nala, Doug’s teacup poodle, didn’t stay still. Instead, she wandered all over the center and visited several residents, bringing laughter and joy everywhere she went. Dawson couldn’t believe it, and Nala became a permanent visitor.

Because everyone was thrilled with the cheerful doggy around, Doug began bringing Nala with him every day

The story of the amazing dog was first covered in Boyd Huppert’s “Land of 10,000 Stories.” A couple of years later, reporters from KARE 11 checked in with the amazing duo and interviewed Doug once again.

Both times, Doug pointed out that Nala can sense when someone’s sick and hurries to be at the person’s side. Her prescription is a lot of affection, which turned out to be the most successful medicine.

After a while, Nala didn’t need help to get around the center, she even used the elevator alone.

Of course, the dog needs help with the buttons, but Dawson says that “If she could, she would push the buttons herself.” If this incredible poodle needs to use the elevator, she enters it, someone pushes the button, and she rides it on her own.

A 90-year-old resident of the nursing home, Inez Gugisberg, said: “She’s an angel. I love her, and she loves me.” Nala was by her side when Inez died, and she really seems to be doing the work of an angel.

People have been sending gifts to her from all over the world. Despite not being trained as a therapy dog, Nala surely behaves like one and visits every lap that needs cuddling.

His wife takes care of Nala now, and the dog has provided a lot of comfort in these tough times. Looks like the puppy was sent from up above, to make things a lot easier on everyone. Animals can sometimes be a lot more perceptive to others than humans. The YouTube video of Nala’s nursing home adventures was seen more than 7 million times. Everyone agrees on one thing – the dog is an angel in disguise.

The beautiful story is a confirmation that dogs respond to the love you give them, they don’t judge, don’t hate, and they certainly don’t care about the color of your skin. Nala is a true hero. We’re not surprised, though. In case you didn’t know, poodles are the second smartest dogs, out of more than a hundred breeds, when it comes to obedience, and work intelligence.
