The hawk thought that nothing was stopping him from taking the puppy away. Luckily, the teen knew what to do.

The puppy, Lulu, had only joined the family recently. She was still getting used to life at her new home, when something shocking happened.

The small Yorkie was playing in the yard, when a hawk swooped down. The bird sank its talons into the puppy’s neck. Lulu was able to shake the hawk off.

But the bird hadn’t given up just yet.

The bird kept on diving, pecking and clawing at the puppy. Lulu kept on biting back at the bird, but she was tiny, and the bites did little damage to the bird.

The Yorkie puppy’s sister, Heidi, saw what was happening and tried to bark the hawk away. But the hawk was still undeterred.

Luckily, the barking alerted Cecilia Celis, a fifteen-year-old who was at home that day. She rushed outside and struggled to believe what she was seeing.

Cecilia was scared, but she knew that her puppy’s life was in danger. At first, she tried to shoo the hawk away, but the bird was still grabbing at Lulu.

Then she grabbed the nearest object, a seat cover, and whacked it at the hawk. This got the animal’s attention.

The teen whacked the bird a few more times.

Soon, there was enough space between Lulu and the bird for the dog to run away. She and her dog sister ran inside the home, safe at last.

Cecilia kept on batting at the hawk. Eventually, the bird flew away, realizing that it had met its match.

With the bird repelled, Cecilia went to check on her dogs. She saw that Lulu had a gash on her neck and was bleeding. So she rushed her to the vet.

The vet was able to treat Lulu’s wound, and she soon made a full recovery. From that moment onward, Lulu knew she had a loyal and protective family.

Cecilia has vowed to be much more watchful over the puppies in the future. No hawk will carry them off while she is around.

A news report of this story then appeared online, where it went viral. To date, the video has gained over 1.7 million views. It also has more than 34,000 likes and 5,100 comments. People have been saying things like this:

The idea of a hawk carrying off a dog sounds absurd. But this video proves that it could happen.

In the story, a suburban homeowner brought a puppy into the house, and for the first time, she saw hawks hovering in the sky above the home. A hawk then started swooping down to grab the puppy, but the puppy’s owner was able to scare it away.

Be wary of birds of prey attacking puppies. It sounds funny until it happens.
