Yellow lab takes on fear of carpet and wins
Everybody in the world is afraid of something, whether they want to admit it or not.
Sometimes these fears are completely rational, like spiders or snakes; sometimes they are irrational, like balloons or clowns.
It’s not just humans that have fears, many animals are afraid of things as well.
One example of this is a young yellow lab named Arnie, who is afraid of walking across a threshold of a hard floor turning to a carpeted floor.
Arnie wants to go outside and play but he has to get from his kitchen, through the carpeted living room to get to the front door.
The dog is clearly uncomfortable but knows he has to tackle this fear sooner or later.
With his family in the living room, Arnie stands at the threshold, obviously trying to use his cuteness to get his humans to carry him across.
The family knows that this is something Arnie has to do alone though, so they encourage him from a distance.
The scared pup makes a few false starts, but he always stops before his feet touch the carpet.
Eventually, Arnie realizes he has to tackle his fear head-on… or butt on.
He backs up from the threshold and goes around a corner.
The next we see of Arnie is his tail, the dog decided to turn himself around and back across the threshold so he wouldn’t have to see what he was doing.
It was an incredibly smart move by the dog and it worked, he made it over the border and into the living room in one brave go.
The dog’s family could be heard laughing at the sight of the pup backing up, but they quickly praised him and told him how smart and brave he was.
Arnie made it to the front door and was rewarded by participating in an exhausting run around the yard.
Yellow labs are one of the most popular dog breeds in the world, and for good reason too.
These animals are smart and friendly and very easy to train; they want their owners to be proud of them and praise them.
They are usually great with other animals, both dogs and cats, and are also good with children.
Labs are always eager to please their owners and Arnie truly showed that when he overcame his fear of carpet so that he could go and play.
Though Arnie is still quite a young dog in this video, he is clearly very smart and wants his owners to be proud of him, to show them that he can do whatever he sets his mind to.
And his owners clearly love the pup.
They encouraged him to do what he was obviously scared of and showered him with love and praise when he succeeded.
Everybody is afraid of something, but with the love and support of friends and family, you too can conquer your fears just like Arnie.
